My Go-To Fuel for Training and Racing – Huma Gels are a Game Changer!
I've been using Huma Gels for a while now, and I can honestly say they’re my go-to nutrition source during both training and races. The texture is smooth, the flavors are delicious (no artificial aftertaste!), and they provide a quick yet lasting energy boost that I rely on every time. What really sets these apart is how effective they are at preventing cramps and keeping my energy steady. Whenever I see someone struggling with cramps during a race, I always pass out a Huma Gel. The difference is immediate – they work fast and keep you going for the long haul. It’s a small act of kindness, but it always feels great to help someone push through with the support of such an awesome product.Highly recommend Huma Gels to anyone who needs reliable, clean energy for endurance sports. They’ve become a key part of my racing and training routine.

Flavorful and packed with energy
I'm a life-long runner and eight-time marathoner who has tried all sorts of gel brands and flavors. In a sea of gels that either reek of artificial flavorings or have the consistency of frozen peanut butter, Hüma rises to the top. I came across Hüma for the first time while training for my fourth marathon back in 2019 and while I've given a shot to others, I always end up coming back to the Hüma PLUS gels. The consistency is just right for eating while on the run - liquid enough you can get it down with just a swish of water but solid enough that you're sure you're getting a hefty serving of carbohydrates. The gels all have very natural flavors and honestly taste a bit like if you'd grabbed a spoonful of a jelly from a local farm. The packaging is also excellent for racing - flexible enough you can fold it into your pockets and a tab that's easier to open quickly than most other brands. All in all, they're the perfect companion to the competitive runner who wants to live cleanly.

Soccer Ref. 5 stars. Purchased 3 times so far.
I ref soccer, during the summer we’ll have tournaments where I’ll ref up to 4 games a day/ 10 games a weekend in the heat. It sounds silly, but I get so tired of drinking fluids, so I bought the Plus packs and they saved me all summer and soccer season. Just bought another 24 pack. Easy on the stomach and decent taste. I don’t love all the flavors, but they are all edible and since there’s not too much gel per pack you can get it down no problem in between games or at half time when it’s 100 degrees and you have 2.5 miles to run in the second half of a game.

A bit more more than other brands, but a GREAT alternative
I am picky with my gels. I can't stand those that are two thick. Maybe they have better flavors, or more sodium, or potassium, or carbs, or whatever. For me, the thickness of the gels is a 100% deal breaker. I am also not a fan of gels that overpower you with flavor. I would prefer more neutral or muted flavors. My go to gel and flavor used to be Powerbar tangerine (orange was just to much orange), but then I found the "orange dream". But even with Powerbar, you take to many (how many depends on the event) and my iron stomach would bit off.In comes huma, referred by a friend. Read the backstory, like it. Like the goal for a bit more natural, like the claims for easy on the stomach, though I never really had GI issues.Pros:- great flavors. Not a big fan or mocha and chocolate, but in a variety, I'll eat those.- easy on the stomach, never once has issues with it.- the new flavors, love the direction and interested to try them out. Saving them for a 100k coming upCons:- not as easy imho to open as some others- not as easy to squeeze out the top. Its like the hole needs to be bigger, or they need the gel to be a bit thinner- yes its easy on stomach, but it doesnt seems to pack the punch/boost I would get from Powerbar. Not a deal breaker, but an observation- more expensive- they are not as thin as I would have guessed. Yes more than Gu, or Hammer, but the Powerbar is still more smooth.Seems like more cons, but they are quite minor. These are my go to gels. for ultras, I do still bring some powerbar, and mix them in, but its primarily huma and TailwindUpdate: 05/19/2017This is still my go to gel. Love most of the flavors. Really like the two newest once. Still not a fan of the rip top I wish the mouth area was a bit wider to allow the gel to come out quicker/more volume. That would change it to 5 stars for me.

Gamechanger fuel for ultrarunning and marathons (170 miles raced in the past 3 months)
I took a gamble and used Huma for the first time on an 70k (originally 110k) ultrarunning race in Sept 2024 (Wildstrubel in the Swiss alps) --- Huma kept me going through the countless leg-busting uphills, AND was the first time I had no gastrointestinal distress during the race. (This is especially shocking because previously I would always take Immodium pre-race, and pay for the discomfort later :P)Huma actually tastes good!!! It's not sticky like Gu gels, and actually feels hydrating. I look forward to every squeeze of the packet -- my strategy is to hold it in one hand and slowly dole it out to myself as a treat before every ascent.I was Huma-powered again for my first 100 miler (Midstate Massive) a month later in Oct 2024, and took 3rd place in that race.Yesterday (Nov 2024) I ran Philly marathon with 4 Huma packets (apples & cinnamon, lemon & lime, mango, strawberry lemonade) and broke my PR by 30 min!Needless to say I recommend Huma for any sort of physical activity -- I will definitely be bringing it on my next backpacking trip too. It was even better to listen to "Born to Run" recently, wonder if Huma was related to the Tarahumara (esp because of the chia ingredient), and to realize that was the inspiration :)

A must try for endurance athletes!
I’ve tried a number of energy gels and have had stomach issues with the greater majority of them. Huma was a very pleasant surprise. No stomach problems, great taste and a noticeable performance boost. Highly recommend.
