Great Pre acoustic Pre amp
used this for my very first pedal board set up and it has never given me any problems. It just takes time to get familiar with all the features

Radial Engineering Tonebone PZ Pre
The Radial Engineering Tonebone PZ Pre: Acoustic guitar pream/direct box is definitely one of the best pieces of equipment I have purchased!!!! This thing has put my sound and tone on a whole other level. The effects loop is perfect, chrystal clear, no signal noise at all. Very easy to use and change settings/dial in the exact sound & tone that will separate you from the rest.I recommend this product to anyone on the market for an acoustic guitar direct box.Radial Tonebone PZ-Pre Acoustic Preamp

It's WAY OVERPRICED and only so, so for acoustic guitar
Had one and got rid of it. The sound was only so, so and it's WAY OVERPRICED. Lacks a rich full sound with a Sunrise pickup. I switched to a BBE Acoustimax and what a difference. The BBE Acoustimax has a full and very rich sound, and more complete and very noticeable tonal adjustments. It also has a dead quiet effects loop, a DI out like the PZ. I didn't find any real use for the boost on the PZ. Two of the foot switches on the PZ I found to be placed way too high up on the pedal, and the slide switches got dirt in them almost immediately. Not a good design in my view. For the cost of the PZ I thought it would be exceptional and shine above other similar pedals. Well, unfortunately it doesn't.

Too noisy for me.
I wanted to like this but ultimately returned it. I use Radial DI's and had high expectations for such a fully featured product from the brand. The PZ-Pre pedal comes very tightly packed. It almost felt like there was too much packing pressure on the pots as I unboxed everything. Out of the box the first thing I noticed was the action of the pots, some had perfectly smooth motion, some had rough patches. I'm not sure if this is Radial factory QC or if that tight packaging beat them up in transit. I should note that the packaging was in perfect condition and the pedal itself looked 100%. Regardless, the deal breaker for me was the noise floor. I was shocked by how noisy the PZ-Pre was. This was somewhat evident in the boost pot, somewhat evident in the volume pot, and very prominent in the eq pots. The treble pot is basically a mild hiss generator, you'll have to dial it down from unity just to quiet it down. I did some basic troubleshooting and found the noise floor issue persisted even without an input, with or without the ground lifted, and with or without any of the other toggles selected. I'm not sure if I had a bad unit or what but I won't be trying a replacement.

Recommended.
An awesome piece of electronics; enhances my sound just like I like. From time to time I get buzzing from the device and it's difficult to troubleshoot, but overall it's great. Just need separate EQs for the 2 channels and it would be even more valuable.

Excellent pre-amp for acoustic steel string
Excellent pre-amp for acoustic guitar. Eliminates feedback and has straight forward EQ controls for tweaking your tone. I mostly use it for DI recording with a Taylor 810CE and a few effects in the fx loop. Does the job and does it well.

Great box
The Radial Tonebone is a great preamp- with 2 channels and separate volume and boost control. It sounds great, too. I'm using it with a dobro with fishman Nashville pickup, and banjo with EMG banjo pickup. They sound great and very natural with this box.

Banjo - Kavanjo
My banjo has never sounded better. I use it with a Kavanjo [...] pickup and the low cut feature has resolved all my feedback issues and the tone is excellent.
