Four Weeks in the Trenches: The War Story of a Violinist

A plainly told tale of life at the eastern front, facing the harsh realities of trench war. I really enjoyed the honest tale, and would have appreciated a longer review of the author's experience, except he was perhaps fortunate to be invalided out.

This is a very sensitive and moving description of life in the trenches in Austria at the beginning of the first world war. The author was a violinist who became one of the greatest in the history of music.
