Great reference
It’s a wonderful book. Pandemic purchase. I had a strange urge to be farmer like. I am a city girl dreaming of open spaces. So I did finally started to reap the benefits of an urban balcony garden but damn, do I really need 5 pounds of korean hot peppers and 6 pounds of cherry tomatoes all at once? So, I saved the seeds of the less hot version of korean peppers and sweeter versions of the cherry tomatoes. Of course I bit into all 11 pounds of them to find them.....perhaps I should finish the book. Is there another way?

Seeds Seeds Seeds
Starting and Saving Seeds by Julie Thompson-Adolf is user friendly, appealing to the eye and full of great information. Julie's writing makes you feel like she is your friend and she is in the room with you, guiding you along. She gets you started from equipment set-up to soil & seed prep. She includes directions for building your own indoor seed starting station... nothing is too complicated or overwhelming for your budget. The second half of the book is especially amazing. There are lots of veggies, flowers and herbs listed with all the info you would need to have to know when to sow, when to transplant, special needs for each seed, and how and when to harvest your seeds for next season. This book is great for a beginner or a seasoned gardener.

Information you never thought of !
I really enjoyed the book, showing how to get the seeds, preserve them was very informative, now I know why my last years tomato plant seeds didn't grow.....she shows you how, why and when.

Success with Seeds!
I have tried starting from seeds and saving seeds to try but with very little success. Julie's book helped me understand more about the whole process and what seeds need what kind of care. I now have many veggies grown from seed and a second generation of tomatoes from seeds I saved.

A great resource...
I'm a fairly experienced gardener, but still a seed novice. I really appreciated how the author was able to break down the mystery surrounding seed saving and sowing, but in a way that I didn't feel like I was being talked down to. Julie is a master garden communicator!

Informative,
There are a lot of plants that are not common to a large number of people that you can grow from seed , therefore if you are like me who has a reasonable knowledge of garden plants, I had not heard of many of the plants mentioned,
