BUYER BEWARE - this combination lock may open to multiple numbers different from the numbers you have set!
All buyers and potential buyers, please be aware:I have ordered 5 of these same type of locks from three different storefronts, and they ALL have the same exact issues. Please know that as of: 07/21/2016 - these locks will open to multiple combinations even after your combination is set. The quality control on these items should be tight, tight, TIGHT, but they are NOT! The worst thing? They were advertised under different companies, as possibly different lock sets - so I cannot be certain how many "different" locks this affects. Please be certain that if your lock "looks" like the one pictured (regardless of who claims to be making it), double check on the potential defect described below! You are using this to secure one of the most dangerous items in your household (if you are using them for their intended purpose)! Whether to keep firearms safe from children or prevent other forms of unauthorized tampering, these locks should ONLY open to the combinations that you set them to. Not any other unforeseen combinations! For those of you who have already purchased these in the past, please re-inspect your locks to verify that they do not fall in with this defective manufactured lot!The defect explained:Set your lock at "111" (you will need a safety pin or a paper clip) - turn your lock one number up or one number down - twist to see if it opens. If your lock turns at "112" - please be aware that your lock may be under the defective lot. To further test your lock, put in "222" to see if it will open. If it does, your lock is defective! Any numbers consisting of 1 and 2 will open the lock (E.G.: 112, 122, 222, 211, 212, 222, 221 etc.)! This is not exclusive of any other possible manufactured defects that I have not discovered inside the lock! As there are only 10 digits per wheel (0-9) and 2 numbers are basically acting as one, there could be as high as a 20% rate of your lock being vulnerable to an unintentional breach!Setting your Lock - in case you lost your instructions and just wanted to refresh your memory:1.) Using your current combination, open the lock, and keep in its fully opened position.2.) Using a paper clip or safety pin (or anything sharp and thin enough to push the little silver tab on the side in) push-in and hold the circular metal cut out/button on the side of the lock.3.) While holding the tiny button down with the pin, spin the combination to the numbers you want.4.) You may release the pin, and twist the lock "open and closed" to test that it has indeed changed. Experimentally flip one number up or down to test that it locks. Confirm the lock number (write it down if you have to), and test again before installing on your firearm. Good luck! Please ensure your family is safe by testing these items thoroughly before using them on your firearms! Hope this helps!

Don't waste your time or money on these locks!
I wouldn't recommend buying these locks. Go with a key operated set instead, these locks have no reference point for the digits to line up on, very hard to use on range. Two of these units won't even open, have tried every combo, yep, all possible still wont open two of these units. I found the locks are defeated easily by using a flat screwdriver to trip the tab holding the lock to the center post which actually goes into the trigger guard.Pass these by and look for better made locks.

Good locks for the money
I've ordered 2 sets of these (6 locks total) and haven't experienced any of the issues stated in other reviews (although I did test them just to make sure). At first the dials are a bit rough to spin, but they smooth out with use. The white logos on my first set rubbed off, most likely due to the gun oil. The black base coating is sold and has not chipped or rubbed off.

Fits my 3 fine....
Bought these for my rifles and they fit a Remington 870, Colt AR (with a tiny bit of effort) and Ruger10/22. Very heavy, I like setting a combo only I will remember. Lost keys to my last bolt lock set so I thought that these are better for me in addition to a combo bolt lock (different combo!) and a locker. I have pre-teen boys.

Good Deal if you like combinations
Like the ideal of having a combination lock better then a key lock. If you prefer key lock, that is ok. Easy to set the combination and able to secure my hand gun and long gun at the trigger point. I just have a preference of keeping the barrel closed and that is why I did not order the the lock that has a cable that loops through the chamber and magazine.

Works great after a year of daily use
Works great after a year of daily use. Highly recommend. It fits my ruger10/22, remington 783, SKS, ar15, & mossberg 500. Prevents trigger activation and seems durable, despite some rubber/plastic parts.

works like a charm
I got these locks for my SIG P238 and it fits perfectly. I only have one gun so my dad has the other two locks (yes it does come with three identical locks). He hasn't complained about them yet which means that they work well for him too. If they didn't work I would know. But mine is perfect. It comes with instructions on how to use it and how to change the lock combination. It was very simple to do. When I first got my lock I changed the code immediately and just the other day (months later) I wanted to change the lock number again and was too lazy to go looking for the instructions. I had forgotten how I did it but changed it successfully on the first try. The lock was very well built with very strong metal on the outside and there is a thick pad of rubber on each side so it doesn't scratch up my gun. The tumblers turn very easily and everything is smooth. It looks just like the picture showed so it is slightly bulky but it gets the job done. The bulkiness is probably my only issue with it but it's not enough to knock off a star.

Does not fit Sig Sauer P250 or P320.
Unfortunately, this product did not fit my handguns. The spindle that passes behind the trigger is too short for the two pieces to connect. This model is roughly 1.25". My Sigs need 1.5". Other than that, nicely designed product.
