Good Experience, Worth the Price and Charging speed is a Plus
First thing I noticed was that the Pencil is smooth and looked like it could slip from my hand, (which it didn't) but it sure can role, so make sure it's not on a slanting surface, or better yet, get a case with a pencil holder on the inside cause this feels and looks fragile. As for the butt cover, it is magnetic so I don't worry about it falling out (which I initially thought lol). Despite it's very slippery looking features, it is quite easy to grip and it comes with an extra point and an adapter. The point doesn't seem rubbery, more like a smooth, rubber like coated, plastic. Basically, it's really hard but is silent to very low on sound when you're using it on a screen, so its very unlikely to make noise to disturb you or persons around you unless you tap hard on the screen. It's heavier than an ordinary pen or pencil but it doesn't affect my writing or drawing. It's hardly noticeable when you start using it so you get use to it pretty fast. It doesn't lag one bit so it's safe to say it 'feels natural' for drawing and writing. For paring, you just insert it into the iPad charging pot and it asks you to pair, you accept the pairing and it pairs until you cut off the Bluetooth from the settings area. For charging, it's a bit awkward though, cause this looks like an accident ready to happen. My advise is to put it somewhere that it can't be disturbed cause it doesn't look safe to just leave around when charging. In the flip side, it charges super fast so the fact that the pencil loses power during rest mode, doesn't affect the whole user experience. From my experience, it doesn't die out quickly. I can write for a considerable amount of time and still not have to worry about it dying on me, (but it does warn you on the Ipad so it won't be a surprise) and even on low percentage (15 percent), it can still give you a good bit of time (maybe 20-30 minutes) to wrap up before it really needs a charge. Again, super charge, why take the risk right? 10 seconds gives you an extra 30 mins man! I also like that it barely upsets the ipad's charge either. I once charged my ipad to 100 percent, placed my dead pencil in to charge, come back a few minutes later and the pencil was 100% while the ipad was still 100%. What I don't like is that it takes forever to charge the pencil directly off the wall. If you want a fast charge, use your iPad. In other words, it may be pricey but the experience makes up for it. I doubt anyone who has a properly working pencil will regret it.

Great stylus, will probably cost more than you think in the long run
I recently got an iPad for school. I go through tons of notebooks as I’m an avid note taker so I wanted a more ecofriendly alternative. After looking at reviews I originally decided to get a cheaper alternative to the Apple Pencil. It was good for tapping and scrolling, but it was rough to take a lot of notes. I knew it wouldn’t work during lectures where I have to write fast so I finally decided to give the Apple Pencil a try. Worst thing I just return it. I got the pencil quickly and immediately took to GoodNotes 5 to test my handwriting and compare it to a cheaper alternative. Instantly I knew the Apple Pencil was superior. I don’t have a screen protector so the writing was super smooth and effortless. Its sensitive so you don’t need to press hard, but not too sensitive you’re getting accidental marks on your document when the stylus gets too close to the screen. I don’t draw so I can’t say much on that, but after some trial notes I can say this is a really amazing stylus especially if you like to take “pretty” notes. There are a few things I’m not too big a fan of, however. For starters, it’s a very smooth pen. It looks beautiful and sleek but it’s hard to write for a long time and it gets painful. I’ve poured a ton of money into this switch to digital notes and it looks like I’m not done. I’ve seen some videos of people recommending a silicon grip cover for the pencil which is beginning to look like a must have. The last thing is the magnet. Supposedly the Apple Pencil can connect to the side of the iPad via magnet and stay while you’re not using it. The magnet is very weak and I would never trust it to actually stay on my iPad. It’ll be nice to keep the stylus from rolling away when you’re not using it, but I think I’ll be looking for somewhere else to store it. In addition you will need to replace the tip of it eventually. I haven’t had to yet, but it does come with 1 spare tip. Additional ones can be bought at Apple. Overall, I will always recommend this stylus especially if you need features like pressure sensitivity, but keep in mind you may also need a silicon cover and potentially a matte screen protector (if you want it to feel like paper). If you’re not someone who writes or draws often and are just looking for a basic stylus to tap, scroll, and occasionally jot down notes I would save your money and go for a cheaper alternative. Pros: Pressure sensitive Great for notes Accurate Cons: Weak magnet (could be my iPads issue though) Hard to hold after long periods of time Can be costly in the long run

Apple Pencil 1st Gen—Still the Best Choice for iPad Drawing & Notes
Having used the Apple Pencil (1st Generation) for both art and work tasks, I'm consistently impressed by its precision and reliability. The pressure and tilt sensitivity make shading, sketching, and handwriting feel natural—it's as close to pen and paper as I've found on a tablet. Palm rejection on iPad is flawless, letting me rest my hand without accidental marks. The Pencil's build is sturdy and the tip lasts far longer than I expected, even with heavy daily use. Charging is straightforward—even though newer models have more elegant charging solutions, the magnetic cap and included adapter still work reliably. Performance is lag-free across supported apps, whether you're designing graphics, annotating PDFs, or taking notes. The connection is instantaneous with supported iPads, and I love that there's essentially zero setup—just pair and go. For professionals, students, and hobbyists, the Apple Pencil unlocks the iPad's creative and productivity potential. If you want guaranteed accuracy and seamless integration with iPad, the 1st-gen Apple Pencil remains a top investment. Highly recommended for anyone who values drawing and note-taking accuracy!

In love
I'm in love, the Apple Pencil (with the iPad Pro) is worlds above my old iPad and regular stylus (I had a herd of fancy styluses but they all had their drawbacks). In fact I was almost afraid to upgrade to the pro/pencil, I was worried that it would be just as much of a letdown as my other styluses (I do like the pencil by 53, it's a very nice stylus for non-pro iPads, and it's beautiful to look at, but still not perfect) I like the hard tip, it makes a satisfying click on the iPad surface when in use, it's not a big, hollow, squishy tip. It has a good weight to it, very easy to hold and use. Stylus tip easily screws on or off for changing. I use it for typing, scrolling, tapping links, turning pages in the kindle app, not just sketching. There is barely any lag or parallax, no jitter when going slow. It's the closest thing to drawing on paper that I've experienced (granted, extremely expensive, glassy paper, but pretty dang close). Palm rejection is excellent, though not 100%, you get the odd stray mark here and there. It's especially good for clicking little fiddly dropdowns on webpages that fat fingers can find tricky. Battery life isn't crazy long, I usually charge it once a day, it's handy to be able to pull down the notifications and see the battery strength in the Pencil. The actual pencil is super slippery smooth plastic. It's like the white plastic on the back of my iPhone 5C, very glossy and slick. The little bits that come with the pencil are tiiiiiiiny, the end cap and lightning adapter are about the size of small vitamins. For sure grab one of those little accessory packs they sell on Amazon that have silicon tethers to keep track. The one I got on Amazon was about five bucks, it has a tether that holds the end cap to the end of the pencil while charging, and one to hold the Lightning adaptor to a charging cable. (It also has a rubber cap to protect the business end while not in use, it's a bit bulky though) Could use an eraser end, but you get used to just hitting the eraser tool. Anyway, if you're looking to get an iPad pro and you do a lot of writing or drawing the pencil is the way to go. If you aren't really a heavy note-taker or art-maker, then a regular stylus would work well enough. Update 5 months in- I still love this thing, I use it probably 90% of the time, except where it requires multi-touch gestures. It's had pretty heavy daily use and I haven't had to change the tip yet. I charge it about once a day, and contrary to my early fears I haven't catastrophically broken it by charging it on the iPad (which takes like 10 minutes, super fast) I haven't lost the little bits yet, but I've had some close calls with the end cap. I use it mainly with the Sketchbook (from autodesk) and Pixelmator apps and it is pretty awesome. I did the four fairy illustrations printed on the pictured tote using the Pencil on a Pro 12.9" with Sketchbook and Pixelmator.

I had no idea how much I needed this thing.
So, I don't tend to be the type who needs to try every new gadget, or upgrade every year. I have an ipad mini, I've had ipad minis ever since they came out, and I love them. I received a new one for christmas and it has pencil capabilities, so when I also received an amazon gift card I figured I'd try the pencil out and see if it's of any use for me. I had hoped to play DrawSomething with my husband, perhaps, or use it for a coloring book app. I find that it does work very well for both of those - coloring apps have suddenly become very desirable and fun for me, I wish Pigment didn't cost so much per year! But the really surprising thing is that I find myself using it for everything I do on my ipad from browsing to playing stardew valley. I have really bad hand issues and pain, and I find that being able to use the pencil, which is so lightweight and very well balanced, really really helps me. I can hold and use it in almost any hand position, and it's light enough that I don't have to have a death grip on it and cramp my hand. It's a total game changer for me, I can continue using my ipad hours past when I normally would've had to give it up and sit there doing nothing with my hands due to the pain. It's honestly the best $100 I've spent in a long time, huge quality of life boost for me. I know some folks hate that the charging is a bit awkward on these - but mine came with an adapter so I can use it with any regular lightning cable. Mine holds a charge for about two days of 4+ hours steady use each day, if not more. It charges from about 30% to full in under an hour. I got a little set of silicone helpers for it - one caps the tip for carrying it around, the other slides onto the end of the pencil and then onto the charging cap to keep it from getting lost. Very helpful for me! Overall, I couldn't be happier with this and am really excited to have it.

Amazing (minus minor inconveniences)
I'd like to preface this review by saying that this is a great product! Whether you're a digital artist, looking for a stylus that will produce precise and clean work, or someone who wants to be able to hand write things on their iPad, the Apple Pencil will deliver! It's easy to hold, quick-charging, and makes you feel like you're writing on paper! But that's not what I really wanted to discuss in this review. It's important to know all of the pros of the Apple Pencil, but the cons are what I really wanted to talk about, and hopefully be able to prepare you for them. However, please keep in mind that these cons are just, as I stated before, minor inconveniences. I still highly recommend this stylus! My first con about the Apple Pencil is that the cap to the charger and the charging adapter are so, so small! When you're charging your Apple Pencil, you have to remove the cap. And for the time that your stylus is charging, your cap is just lying around! You could easily misplace the cap due to this. It's the same with the charging adapter. Luckily, there are some solutions for this. You can easily find a case for your Apple Pencil, and some have places to store your charging adapter and such. I also highly recommend getting a case for your iPad that has a side compartment that holds Apple Pencils and their charging adapters. One of my favorites is the Fintie Softshell Case. Surprisingly durable and well-crafted for it's price! Another con that I don't see too often is that the tip of the Apple Pencil wears down over time, and can sometimes even scratch your iPad! If you don't have a screen protector, I highly suggest that you purchase one before you order the Apple Pencil! And while we're on the subject of screen protectors, I also recommend that you get a matte screen protector. They protect your eyes from the glare, and aren't as slippery as a glass screen protector. This natural resistance provides a more pen-and-paper sort of feel! Also, buy extra tips for your Apple Pencil. The point of this review isn't to scare you away from buying the Apple Pencil, it's to help you become more prepared for when you use it! So please, prepare yourself before you buy this product, and have fun with it!

Hands-down worth the money if you are do art/lettering
I've had many stylus' over the years for my ipads and nothing comes even remotely close to the Apple Pencil. The first time I saw this product I wondered why anyone would ever buy a stylus that is this expensive, but I completely know why now. First off, charging this pencil is so easy. I just plug it in to my ipad pro directly to get a charge and it comes to a full charge in a matter of just 20 minutes. I thought before buying this product I would be annoyed at the fact that you had to charge the stylus, but even when it dies on me when I am in the middle of drawing I just have to plug it in for 1 minute to get 30 minutes to an hours worth of charge. Another feature that I love is the palm rejection. I draw almost everyday and I have never been able to draw much on the ipad because the way I write and draw is with my palm pressed hard against whatever surface I am on. So this stylus was a game changer for me! I rarely find the palm rejection not working. Maybe a couple of times when my knuckle touched the screen in a weird way but that is very rare. I use the app Procreate to draw and the one thing that I wanted was a pressure sensitive stylus, and I got this with the apple pencil. It works extremely well too. If you do lettering, this is definitely a gamechanger. The only problem that I have encountered in the few months of using the apple pencil is a problem with the Apple Pencil working while charging my Ipad Pro. I'm not sure if this happens to others, but when I am charging my ipad the apple pencil will freakout and make a bunch of marks all over an act like it is not connected completely. I tested this in both the notability app as well as the Procreate app and they both did the same this. So I have to wait until my ipad is unplugged before using the pencil (which can be annoying at times). The only other problem I have with it is the cap is not connected to the stylus and easily comes off and can get lost. The magnet is not that strong on the cap which is very annoying. This is a workaround buy though which is a must if you don't want to buy an replacement cap https://www.amazon.com/3-Piece-Fintie-Pencil-Lightning-Adapter/dp/B01H6Q03IY/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1485457860&sr=8-2&keywords=apple+pencil+cap+holder Note: My next favorite stylus that I used for a long time was the Adonit Jot Pro which I will never use again after buying the Apple Pencil

Awesome Stylus
I personally really like this. The price, I will admit, is a little obnoxious but 1) its Apple so what do you expect and 2) I use it quite a bit and so far I am very pleased with it. When paired with certain apps, the use of the pencil really comes into light. I'm not sure if some people would prefer their stylus to be lighter or heavier, but I prefer mine to have a little bit of weight to it. This apple pencil feels solid inside unlike other stylus pens I've used in the past. Cons (if you are picky about these things. These aren't really things I dislike, these are more suggestions for those who are worried about these specific features of the product) The adapter to charge could get easily lost if you dont keep track of it due to its small size (I keep everything in the box when I'm not using it because I am notorious for losing my belongings so the box is the best place for me personally) If you dont use the adapter you CAN plug it into the port on your actual iPad, however it's very awkward with a pencil just sticking out the bottom. I dont use this method in fear that I'm gonna accidentally hit the pencil or something and ruin both the port and the actual pencil. The cap that COVERS the lighting plug in (I have noticed) seems to bother some people due to it completely coming off when you charge it (I dont mean that it falls off on its own. The cap itself is magnetic and stays in place. I mean more in the sense of voluntarily removing the top cap to charge the Pencil). Therefore when it isnt covered, the cap is just laying around. They do have a solution for that on amazon (an atachment for the pencil to keep it attached to the pencil if you are afraid of that. (Once again, I just put it in the box. That small extra step doesnt bother me). At first I thought there was really no way to see how much the pencil was charged, but turns out there is a widget that becomes available on your iPad that you can add to your screen to keep you in the know. Those cons dont particularly bother me enough to rate this product bad or to purchase attachments of any sort. If you are really afraid of losing this device, they have iPad cases with places to hold your apple pencil and they even have actual Apple Pencil cases to keep your pencil in separately. And if you're worried about dropping it and it breaking or getting scratches on it,they have silicone "sleeves" for the pencil as well for extra protection.

Works as epxected, a bit pricey for what you get.
Among the downsides - this pen can't be paired with PRO versions of iPad, and iPhones, I wish it could. Otherwise works as expected with the old versions of iPads.

Consigliata!
