Breathing fire!
I read 100 pages in one sitting, and found myself chuckling more than expected. Who knew that the original Hebrews were “chosen” by a volcano god? Remarkable scholarship and excellent reading

Great thought provoking book
These 10 essays challenge readers to consider everything they thought they knew about our "Judeo-Christian" tradition and values, as well as the role Jewish elites have played in the history of Western Civilization from a different perspective. The author's analysis is eye opening and he draws from many sources (including many Jewish ones) to support his thesis that the ideology of the Old Testament based on blood and tribal membership still dominates Jewish interactions and relations with other peoples.

Chapter 8 is mind blowing.
He does for the Old Testament what Bart Ehrman does for the new. I’ve read these verses, but how do you skim over Yahweh ordering murder of gentiles over and over again and miss it?? I had the Bible nearby and picked it up to read for myself again the verses the author quotes. Especially chapter 8.

A collection of Guyenot's Essays - History for our modern times
Having this hard copy of Laurent Guyenot's essays means not having to worry and trust that our technology won't fail!Guyenot's exegesis of the Tanakh shows us clearly all the misunderstandings that Jewish as well as Gentiles have incorporated into their thinking, culture, and political system. He shows us how the Jewish people were forced, with threats against their lives, to follow the god Yahweh, in remaining an isolated but chosen people by Yahweh, and the full effects this has had on the world.Guyenot blasts away at the notion that God wrote the old testament by "inspiring man", but instead about 2500 years ago a group of Jewish Scribes/Priests developed the angry God to control the population. His many articles touch on the materialistic aspect of the Old Testament versus the original meaning of the New Testament. He further gets into how the New Testament has been subverted, by materializing the "resurrection" and other stories. He also shows how Jesus was really more aligned as part of the Greek/Roman Heroes culture than as the materialized/Judaicized version the New Testament finally settles on by the 4th century.Guyenot uses the New Jerusalem Bible for his exegesis. I highly recommend his book "From Yahweh to Zion: Jealous God, Chosen People, Promised Land...Clash of Civilizations", which gets into more details. The essays are a good start, though.
