MerrellMen's Encore Gust 2 Moccasin

I purchased this shoe because I have a particularly bad heel spur on the back of my right foot and I needed a shoe that was open in the back, but still looked like a dress shoe so I could wear it to work. This shoe checks all the boxes and then some. It's open in the back so it doesn't press up against the heel spur and cause me constant pain. It looks like a regular dress shoe from the front so if you wear dress pants you might actually avoid a dress code violation, if your job has a dress code to begin with. The shoe does not slip off easily and is very comfortable to walk around in. I managed to acquire it at a reduced price so it really turned out to be a win - win situation. Less pain for my foot. Less pain for my wallet and no dress code violations. I wouldn't wear these in rainy or snowy weather because I don't want my feet getting wet, but they are a great alternative to the usual closed back shoe when the weather is agreeable. I've started buying Merrell shoes over the last three years or so and I've found that they have quality footwear in a variety of styles which have helped me alleviate my foot pain and get around better at the same time.This particular style shoe is sort of like a fancy dress version of a good pair of Crocs, in my opinion. If you're experiencing the same kind of foot problems that I am this particular shoe might be a possible solution for you. If you experience swelling of the feet you might need to order a 1/2 size larger than usual and possibly need to order a wider shoe than normal. I am usually an 11 Medium, but I needed to order to an 11 1/2 Wide in this style. They fit perfectly so this is my new size, in terms of Merrells. The shoes have excellent grip on cement and asphalt surfaces, but can sometimes be slippery on wet ceramic tile / smooth granite surfaces. These shoes get a high recommendation from me. Check them out if you have foot pain due to heel spurs on the back part of your heel. You might thank me later. : - )

First: I bought these b/c I wanted a slip on shoe and these are the best I have found. I buy mostly Merrell shoes so I usually just keep buying the same size (10.5 which fit as expected) and they fit great. I bought this same shoe in 2016 with a different color and slightly different finish and they lasted for years before I even had to replace the insole and I wear these shoes most days. I use them for generally pretty casual wear, think office, airports, grocery store and what not. I have used these for longish walks, say when coworkers want to walk to lunch a ways away. Probably 4 miles round trip on mostly sidewalks and they were comfy. I have done some light hiking/dirt path walking in them and they worked great here also. Just to be clear I wouldn't necessarily choose these first over a light hiker, but they worked fine when I was at work and we needed to get out and scout around a bit.

My shoe size is 10.5 and these were too tight so I changed them for 11 and even though they fit they are still snug.

I now have three pairs. One pair is now work shoes and they are still holding up despite the abuse.

Easy on and easy off. Great around the house. Happy I have them. They run a little wider than I expected so I had to exchange for a half size smaller. I notice most of my doctors wear them. I keep them in truck for when I finish golfing and I wear them when walking dog. I am 72 and need to be careful walking. These take good care of me. I got them on sale after Black Friday. I wish they went on sale more often. However they are worth it. My wife does not like the clomp clomp noise when I walk with them on. I like the sound. Reminds me of a horse I used to ride.

Fits well and the heel support is a good feature.

So happy with these slip ons. They are the closest I’ve ever come to being able to wear flip-flops to a business meeting!They are super comfortable right out of the box. I have wide feet, so that’s hard to find.I can comfortably wear them with or without socks.We are a no shoes house, so these are super convenient.

Fit very well and very comfortable. Working 12 hours and constantly on my feet, these shoes are great.
