Functional art.
I always feel I should list the pros and cons of anything I review, so let's get the cons out of the way (if you can call them cons)I think some safety precautions are universal. Don't run w/ scissors, look both ways before crossing the street, and never put your fingers between the blade and frame while closing a knife. Any knife with a liner or frame lock has an inherent design flaw in my opinion. I prefer a plunge or button lock, but that's just me. I'm also new to the whole pocket clip thing. I've always carried a pocket knife in my pocket or on a sheath, so I'm still deciding if I even like a clip carry. Having said that, the clip on this knife can't be adjusted for tip up or left hand carry. Again, that's just me, not necessarily the knife. As far as the pros; well, I can't say enough good things about this knife. First off, it's utterly gorgeous. Purple has always been my thing (I had my Firebird painted "Plum Crazy" when I was 18) so this knife is right up my alley from an aesthetics point of view. I also live near Baltimore, so anyone seeing it will just assume I'm a Ravens fan (as they always do when I wear purple). Next, it feels amazing in the hand. It just feels like it wants to be there. The action is smooth like butter. Locks up as solid as a rock. Absolutely NO blade play. Like my Camp 10, it came light saber sharp, although if you accidentally touch the blade it will not self cauterize and you will bleed.Awesome knife-fantastic price. If you need a small EDC or just like cool knives, you need to buy this one.

Great knife for the lady in your life
I bought this knife for my wife. She likes the color and functionality. She can open easily with one hand. I have a Kershaw Leek I was going to give to her but she couldn't open it with one hand. The flipper required too much pressure. The angle on this flipper is much better too. This knife is very indicative of what you can expect out of Kershaw USA quality. The deployment action is smooth, the locking is good and the blade centering is great. The knife gives no play back and forth and side to side when deployed.People complain that the knife would be hard to sharpen because of the shape. I use a ceramic rod for my kitchen equipment that I can use on this as well. In the future I may have to buy some sort of rod with more grit to actually sharpen instead of hone.Pros:Easy and snappy deploymentFeels good in the handRight size for small handsCons:May not work with your sharpening system

Great brand
Kershaw has never disappointed me. These quick release blades are awesome. Got for my wife but I use for Amazon boxes more than she does!

Perfect EDC knife!
Simply the best EDC you can have. Not too big and not too small. Fits the watch pocket perfectly. Easy to open with one hand. I never leave home without it. I bought the Chive for an EDC with dress clothes. The Scallion is perfect for jeans. I was given one as a gift and carried it every day for years. Unfortunately I lost it so I ordered another asap. Thought I had lost the second one so I ordered a third. Fortunately I found the second one so now I have one in reserve.Saw a reviewer whose knife wouldn't open with a flick, they ordered another and it was the same. I've found that after disassembling mine for cleaning (sand in the works after a kayak trip in the Atlantic) it is necessary to adjust the pivot screw until it will open fully with a flick. If you crank down on it the blade will not open properly. This knife fits perfectly in the watch pocket of a pair of jeans. I've never had it accidentally open in my pocket so I just screwed the safety down tight so it couldn't move. I got tired of the safety getting pushed on and having to release it. The whole point of a spring assist open it to be able to open it quickly and with one hand. I can draw the knife, open it and use it with one hand while holding a work piece or other item to be cut.

Great Knife
I love this little knife. fits well in my pocket when I have on Dress Slacks. Very sharp and easy to use. The price is too much, but I had one of these that I gave away as a gift and when I went to buy another one the price had doubled.

My Third Scallion...
This is the third Ken Onion Scallion I've ordered. After having my first one stolen I went through a few other crazy popular folders -- some costing far, far more -- only to realize all I wanted was my Scallion back. These knives are gems... Enough size and heft to get daily chores done, small and light enough they almost disappear in your pocket when clipped in. The flipper is fantastic, fast and the blade locks solidly into place when you use it. It's a small knife but seriously, how much blade length do you really need for day-to-day "tactical" feats such as breaking down cardboard boxes, strap cutting and envelope opening? The one and only thing I don't like on this newer version is the blade safety. The older Scallions don't have this and I don't care for it, personally. It took a little effort but I removed mine. Problem solved. Most people will probably like it, since it prevents the blade from flipping accidentally, say in your pocket for instance. I've never had it happen so yeah, I tore it out. Otherwise, I think this knife is just about right.

Excellent gift for a responsible teenaged girl
I bought this for my teenaged neighbor girl for her bday. She runs the streets all day in the summer and I wanted her to have a little something on her, just in case. She loved it. I’m teaching her knife etiquette and responsibility. It eases her mind a lot having this on her and it’s helped her anxiety. Every mature, responsible teenage girl should have one of these.
