Perfect
I started gaming again on pc after many years. To my surprise, there weren't many hard mouse pads. When I used to game I loved my icemat and funcpad. I tried a bunch of the popular mouse pads that many of the well known gamers used qck heavy, qck+, G640, GSR Hyperx Fury S, destructor, Glorious gaming race, gigantus, and the goliathus. I wasn't happy with any of them because they were all too slow (except the destructor, which was too small). So I ended up getting this one, because while the reviews weren't that great, the majority of the bad reviews centered around the mousepad being rolled up and placed into the box. I randomly heard that zowie was now shipping these in a flat box instead, so I decided to give it a try. I was very happy that I did! This is definitely my new favorite mousepad and I urge anyone who doesn't like how muddy cloth pads feel to try this one. I'm also happy I found this before purchasing some of the other pure hard mousepads, like the GP3 Heaton, because I like how this is a hybrid between a hard pad and a soft. It's pretty comfortable for how fast the surface is. I wrote some quick reviews on the other mousepads that I've tried. I'm going to paste it here in case you were wondering how different they might be: When comparing these pads I’m comparing them to each other. So if I say one feels slow or fast it's just in comparison to other pads in this list. This can vary from person to person and also depending on the mouse you are using. G640 Medium initial friction (slightly more than the qck) Medium dynamic friction Very smooth. Not grainy or uneven like some other pads. Glide feels amazing. If you like the qck I feel like this is a nice step up. Feels very premium except no stitched edges (I prefer not having stitched edges) Lays very flat right away Logo is raised and can get in the way My second favorite on this list is the G640 because of how smooth it feels. The only reason I didn’t stop there and just use it as my main is because I didn’t like the amount of initial friction. If you like the GSR or the qck or some of the razer pads, then I would definitely try this. It doesn’t have as much initial friction of the GSR. Price is on the higher side. Qck+ Medium initial friction Medium dynamic Feels grainy Lays flat right away No frills and good price (especially during a sale). This is a great mousepad to figure out if you like more or less friction because it’s kind of in the middle of all the popular cloth pads. Glorious Low to medium initial friction Low to medium dynamic friction Feels a little bit grainy, but not as much as the qck. Have a ton of different choices in sizes and thickness. The glorious is in my opinion the best all around pad here. There is some friction, but not too much. The price is good (especially during sales). The sizes are amazing. The availability is good. For me it just isn’t fast enough. Surface kept the same speed after a while of use and a couple of cycles in the washing machine. I used the low impact setting and gentle detergent. Hyperx Fury S Pro Low initial friction Low-medium dynamic friction Hard to roll flat (3 days of books and 1 day of rolling backwards with rubber bands and it still was not flat) Was surprised at how fast this one was. Not much initial friction compared to G640 and qck. Loses some of the speed after a short period of 3-4 weeks. The hyperx felt good in terms of speed for me, but the fact that it wore down so quickly and never laid completely flat made me want to keep looking. Zowie GTFX Very low initial friction Very low dynamic friction Ships flat now My personal favorite is the GTF-X because I really like hard and speed pads. I’d like to keep trying pads in this speed range next year to see if there’s anything else I might like now that I know what I’m looking for. I place more importance on tracking than on quick flicks. I have a hard time aiming regularly if there’s too much initial friction, which is why I love this pad so much. It lets me make micro adjustments quickly, which I have a hard time doing with some of these other pads. I definitely understand why some people might not like it because they have a hard time controlling their flicks. Razer Gigantus This one is a pretty cool surface, but just too much initial friction. It’s like the GSR, but with a bit less initial friction and still a TON of stopping power. The raised logo is pretty big. Multiple designs if you shop on the razer site. A bit expensive Similar to the G640, but the Gigantus doesn’t feel as smooth. Gigantus has a little more stopping power. Stitched edges (I believe some of the designs can be purchased without stitched edges, but I don’t have that one) Razer Goliathus Speed (Overwatch Edition) This felt a lot like the Glorious to me. Feels good all around. Maybe a little bit smoother without as much graininess as the glorious. The friction feels about the same. Razer Destructor I used an original destructor for a while. It was my first pad after using Allsop pads many many many years ago. I really like the destructor and could see myself using it as my main if it was a bigger size. Some pads I want to eventually try Artisan Raiden XL MID Custom glass pad? Any recommendations for fast pads??? Some pads you might want to try (They are probably not fast enough for me) DM Pad L PureTrak Talent AMP500 (I really want to try this one, but it’s probably going to be between the speed of the GTF-X and the other pads on this list, so I will probably pass even though I might like it)

The perfect mousepad - 20 Month Update!
PROS - Ships in FLAT BOX (no rolled up edges!!!) Perfect size! (13.5" wide x 12" tall) Outstanding stitching and grip CONS - You don't own it yet I came from the GTF-X which is the same pad but in a larger format. I LOVED my GTF-X, my mouse would glide effortlessly over the surface with minimal friction, and yet plenty of control. However, after nearly a year of flawless use I started to feel that the pad was just a bit too big for my taste. Looking around for alternatives I came across the smaller format version, but was hesitant to purchase because I wasn't certain the PTF-X size would be large enough, and others were complaining about receiving the mousepad rolled up in a tube which guarantees your pad will NEVER sit flat. Suffice it to say none of these problems were evident upon receipt. Pad is a perfect size, (Maybe 1/2" too narrow? I could go for 14" instead of 13.5" but adjustment will happen I'm sure) and it was shipped in a flat box preserving integrity. Zero complaints here, call me a satisfied customer! UPDATE -- Still using this pad, and it's going strong! After 20 months, it remains in great shape (make sure you clean it regularly with water and a cloth) and feels nice and smooth with my Zowie ZA13 mouse. There's some light wear on the stitching, but that's all. I've easily adjusted to the size, and it remains my all time favorite mousepad. 100% stand by it and Zowie, BENQ has my vote of confidence. From the looks of it, there's still several years of heavy use remaining and I will 100% purchase this mousepad again when it inevitably wears out.

Some considerations
If you're actually considering the GTF-X, I assume it's not your first rodeo, so I'll skip the "SO BIG SO SMOOTH" tropes. My GTF-X was shipped flat, unlike some previous reviewers. I had no issues with cracking, or rolled edges. The packaging was so-so, but it did the job and makes for decent storage. Does not seem to play nicely with 400 DPI on a 3366. 800 was pretty buttery. I don't know if I love or hate this pad. Both, I guess. I haven't written it off, that's for sure. There is so little starting force required (as expected) that it does create a pretty magnificent sensation - without the grotesque scratching and plopping and loudness of a hard pad. That being said, there is minuscule (if any) stopping power on this mat. Prepare for a training period if you're playing CSGO: your precision will likely benefit but your flick will look a mess if you're used to something like the GS-R or even a G640. However, for less stop-intensive games, wrist-ey games, I would happily use this. The surface texture is pretty enjoyable and quality, especially with some decent mouse feet. It isn't as rough as people make it out to be - definitely much softer than a very high grade sand paper. It's a pleasure just to move the mouse around. I'd liken the "comfort" level to a Fury S Pro. It is rougher relative to other soft pads, but not rough in a more general sense. There's definitely polymer in there, but it's a pretty uniform surface overall. At middle sensitivities, it strikes me that the slipperiness may cause you to perpetually tighten your grip on your mouse to maintain control, causing strain. I didn't personally experience this after a few hours of a session, but it's something to consider. But, my primary qualm is that the GTF-X sticks to clothes pretty efficiently. If you're like me and game with your arm on the pad while you're wearing a hoodie or something, prepare for stickiness. If not, just know that it is not even remotely painful to move your skin over. It's just porous and adheres to everything except mice feet. TLDR; I've never owned a hard pad so I can't compare this to them. Shipped flat. A joy to use in a lot of ways, but stopping power is not its strength. Unrivaled pad if you're in the market for an extremely low-friction pad and are justifiably reluctant to play on a hard surface. Largely unaffected by humidity. I don't recommend it if you play FPS at low/mid sense wearing long sleeves, because your clothes will stick. That said, this boasts a truly unique surface and I recommend trying it if you're on the fence.

"Hybrid" pad is misleading
When I heard that the GTFX is a hybrid material of cloth and hard pad, I thought this would offer a perfect balance of speed and control/stopping power. For those of you unaware, "hard pads" are generally made of a plastic-like material that is very fast. It's often argued that hard mouse pads offer way too much speed and there isn't any level of control. Traditional cloth pads can vary in speed, but generally never labeled as "fast". Well the GTFX combines those materials I suppose and don't be mislead when you hear that this is a hybrid pad. It's on the fast side. I would argue that it's very fast, favoring speed over control by a 2:1 or even a 3:1 ratio. I myself am a huge fan of the GSR which is a slow control centered pad. Initially, I did not like the GTFX. It was confusingly fast and expected something much slower. In time, I adjusted and this adjustment period took me roughly one full week of daily use to familiarize myself with it. I now love this thing and it has been my main for a while and probably will be for a long time. It's great for tracking but does lack the stopping power needed for games like CSGO and Valorant in my opinion. You can still use the GTFX in click-timing games, but you'll need to spend a lot of time learning how to have a level of your own stopping power. Even though this is a very fast pad, I do feel like it's versatile and a safe option for most people. However, this is a great option for you if you are into tracking dominant games primarily. Quality is also noteworthy. I'd rather buy a half dozen of these or any mouse pad over spending my money on an Artisan. This is a great option if you had your eye on an Odin or Artisan of any kind. These keep their feel and hold up over the long term unlike the GSR which slows down dramatically within a few months.

Yes, it's a bit harder to flatten than other pads. No, it's not impossible (and you can do it quickly!)
Great pad. It does come rolled up and is a little more difficult than your average pad to flatten, but it's not that hard. What you need to do is put a pillowcase over the top of the surface and then spend like 15 minutes ironing it (ideally you have an iron that produces steam). Make sure you're using a medium-high temperature, and if your iron doesn't steam then spray the pillowcase fairly frequently with water. Be a little patient with it and you should be able to get it to lay flat quite easy.

Feels like a cloth pad, but with way more speed.
Came in a flat box. Pad is completely flat, no issues there. Low static/kinetic friction, smooth glide. Almost as fast as a ASUS Scabbard, but with WAY more control. Not affected by humidity. Best mouse pad I've ever used. Hope Zowie continues keeps manufacturing GTF-Xs, because It's become my main.

Great mousing surface but comes curled up and may take a while to flatten out.
This gaming mouse pad works very well with my Zowie EC2-A optical gaming mouse as it tracks very smooth with very good accuracy. The PTF-X has a nicely stitched border to prevent fraying of the edges and a grippy rubber base to prevent sliding. However, because the pad came rolled up in its packaging, it was curling up so much it would not lie flat and would not stay in place on my desk. It still hasn't flattened out completely even after a few weeks of use. The pad itself also feels a bit too light - the rubber base could be a bit more robust and weighty to help keep the pad flat on the table surface. I'll keep using the pad to flatten it out as I really love the super low friction surface of the PTF-X when gaming. Hopefully BenQ changes the packaging on this product and ships it in a flat container to avoid this curling issue, or maybe they can make the pad a bit heavier to reduce the curling effect. If you decide to buy this mouse pad I would suggest reverse rolling it or laying heavy flat objects on it when you're not using it to accelerate the flattening process.

Zowie gets the details right on this pad.
This mousepad is fantastic. Has a different feel than the Steelseries QCK cloth, almost like a bunch of tight knots. This mousepad is extremely fast, almost as fast as a hard pad, but in cloth pad size. The thickness is somewhere in between a QCK+ and a QCK Heavy; Just right in my opinion. The edging on it is a nice rounded stitching that makes it extremely comfortable to rest your wrist on, unlike some other brands that just have the exposed foam edge. The base (new zowie foam base) took a day or two to truly lay flat, but after that it has not been an issue at all. The only downside is that they put a little tag with their logo on it at the corner of the mousepad which could potentially get in the way, although it never has for me personally. If you are thinking about getting this mousepad over a similar brand, I would not hesitate to get it.
