It works fine, but don't bend the screen!!!
Quick summary: This filter is super easy to install and I believe works as it should. Mine arrived with a bend, thanks to USPS, so 4-stars is the best I can give it. Without this, probably 5-star worthy.INSTALL: I expected it to adhere to the screen in some way, but it doesn't. The package includes 5 sticky labels (on blue strips, pictured). To install, you simply hold the privacy screen to your laptop screen/monitor, detach the blue plastic strip from the protective sheet, press the sticky adhesive strip half on the screen/half on the frame, and peel back the blue strip. The adhesive strip remains, much like a piece of scotch tape that's difficult to see once it's on. I've also included a close-up of my monitor, so that you can see the vertical stripe that will appear on the left & right side of your monitor. It isn't distracting or invasive.PRIVACY: This works as well as I expected. We'd all love complete protection, but that just isn't possible when working in public spaces. If your work is *that* sensitive, work somewhere private. For $35-40, I'm reasonably satisfied. I've included a couple of pictures for review. One set has the font set to 12pt, but maximized to a 220% zoom. More reasonably, my settings would be 12pt font with the zoom set to 100% or perhaps slightly larger. I also usually have 2-3 windows open at once, so cannot afford to give such a large part of the screen to one program (Word, Excel, or whatever). Nonetheless, I took the pic with the laptop on the table in front of me with me sitting at a normal work distance. I then moved one seat to the right & left, taking pictures from those perspectives. I tried to sit & shoot the picture from the same seated position as I would expect someone to who was actually sitting there. Of course, with a bit of effort and an awkward and obvious lean/glance, they could improve their view. The 4-star rating is for two reasons. First, the screen was bent when it arrived. This is because the postman folded the bubble-padded envelope to fit it in the mailbox. I knew when I saw it that it was going to be an issue. I installed, nonetheless, and have left packaging feedback for Amazon separately, in hopes that they will correct that issue. If you're worried, spend a bit more to buy this from an office supply store. Second, because of the fold, which you can clearly see left a bend in the privacy screen, there's a small gap between the privacy screen and my laptop monitor. This means I now have a small (1/2") blurry spot in my view. The screen material is thick enough that with reasonable care, this shouldn't happen, BUT because it did in my case, I figured it was worth mentioning. Any damage to the screen will inevitably mar your view a bit. It's just annoying, nothing else.

Not Removable
This privacy filter is very effective, and I am quite pleased with it. But note, I do not believe it is removable.

Apple Macbook Privacy And Secrecy
I installed this for my Macbook Air 2020 M1 laptop and it was super easy and perfect, came with 2 different types of adhesive pads depending on what you prefer :-) I installed this 3M brand previously on MacBook 13" with touch pad and loved it. I'm able to close the laptop screen just fine and no gaps, and the clarity is just awesome :-D no glare or screen getting darker because of privacy filter, no need to adjust my brightness settings after installing the privacy filter. I'm going to continue sticking to this 3M brand as it's the easiest and clearest one I have used :-)

Worst product I ever bought for a computer
Ok so I was convinced to buy this off of all the other reviews. I was very skeptical, especially when I read how it was applied. I work with computers and other electronics daily for more than 12hours a day and the idea of placing 2 thin strips of tape between the filter and an LCD screen just didn't seem like it would add up. I am not sure what other people\s standards are for quality but I know I don't like to be distracted by any distortion. pretty much anything that is going to catch my eye and cause my focus to drift from my work.To be honest i wouldn't have even given this one star if I wasn't forced too. The first thing I noticed when I pulled the filter out of its packaging was that 3M had to stamp their name in the filter itself. Right at the top, off center is a heat stamp of the 3M logo which shows up when you turn the screen on. I first decided to give it the benefit of the doubt and try the tape first. The first issue I had was you pretty much need to be in a clean room when applying these. The filter, after sitting in plastic for who knows how long has picked up just enough static to attract large amounts of dust. I wasted the first two strips trying to apply them without causing any bulges or smears. Anyone who has ever applied a screen protector to their phone knows that even the smallest speck of dust can cause a noticeable defect in the screen's appearance. Once I got the strips in place and the filter applied to the screen, I was appalled by the way it made my screen work. I noticed both strips as they clearly distorted and warped the image around them. I also tried the so called thin tabs. These are supposed to go on the frame of the screen so you can easily remove and replace the filter at will. These are in effect, about the same thickness as the plastic packaging you would find a USB thumb drive in and about as opaque. Needless to say it caused as much distraction as the tape did. Further it added just enough thickness to the screen that I would have worried about them bending and scratching the screen when the lid was closed and the filter not in place. Plus the fact that with a mac book air, the tabs fail to allow the lid to close completely/properly. Last, and definitely not least, while I was waiting to determine whether or not the tape would "Settle" or if the tabs where worth the trouble, I tested the effectiveness of the filter. I constantly keep my brightness on my air at about 50%. the filter in place and the brightness turned below 50% the filter failed miserably to fulfill its duty. I stood at all different angles behind the computer, and while the filter did mask the screen, darken it would be a better description, the image on the screen was still recognizable. A privacy filter should at the very least keep your screen private, not just darken the image.

Fits MacBook Pro 13” Late 2012.
After a huge search for a suitable product, I finally went with this. I didn’t want to use a magnetic or stick on version so decided on this. There is the option to stick the filter to the screen, however I work with graphics so need to have the screen for that. The filter fits nicely and allows the mac to close while filter laying on the keyboard. I am using this with a MacBook Pro late 2012 13”. There’s room for the webcam cover I have and fits nicely to the screen. It doesn’t darken the screen too much and the most important use for it works, the discression feature works well for nosy co-workers and while commuting. Recommended.

Sadly not as good as the marketing seems to make out
A decent filter, so long as you keep your laptops backlight low. Sadly not as good as the marketing seems to make out, someone e.g. sat next to you on a train will have significantly reduced visibility but will still be able to see the contents of your screen. The lower your backlight the better the privacy. One thing that does annoy me is the quantity of dust that gets stuck behind the screen, I've basically given up cleaning it as its so persistent and live with a permanently dirty screen.

Easy to fit
Easy to fit and looks good. Make sure you get the air bubbles out of the adhesive strips. Not quite as private as the angles they show but it difficult to make out the screen.

Doesn’t work
I bought this so that I could work on confidential things on public transport but it is useless - text is clearly legible from the side. Very disappointing as I had one of the “gold” privacy screens from 3M previously and it worked really well.

Doesn’t provide privacy
Doesn’t do what it’s supposed to do: provide privacy. The filter essentially just lowers the brightness, but barely restricts the viewing angle. Also doesn’t fit a 13” MacBook Pro, so had to cut it to size. Will get a different filter.
