Eau De Cologne for Unisex, 3.4 Ounce

I bought 4711 Original Eau de Cologne after a very specific and highly scientific moment of inspiration: noticing the iconic “4711” tattoo on Dr. Frank-N-Furter during The Rocky Horror Picture Show and thinking, “Yes. That. That is the energy I need in my life.” Naturally, I assumed this fragrance would transform me into a magnetic, slightly chaotic icon capable of attracting a lesbian lover purely through the power of citrus and vibes. I’m talking walk-into-a-room-and-people-immediately-reconsider-their-life-choices levels of allure. Let me start with the scent: it’s fresh, bright, very classic. Like a lemon that went to finishing school. Clean, slightly herbal, vaguely aristocratic—like I should be lounging dramatically near a window while contemplating my next scandal. Application experience: invigorating. I splashed it on and immediately felt 17% more interesting and at least 40% more European. Results in the field: mixed. Did I smell fantastic? Yes. Did I feel like I could monologue in a velvet robe? Also yes. Did a mysterious, allured a lesbian lover out of nowhere, drawn in by my intoxicating aura? …no. Not even a little. At one point I did catch someone looking in my direction, but it turned out they were trying to figure out where the “refreshing citrus note” was coming from, not falling hopelessly in love with me. So while 4711 did not, in fact, function as a pheromone-based romance magnet (false advertising, honestly), it did make me smell delightful and feel like I was starring in my own slightly dramatic life montage. Final verdict: 8/10. Come for the classic scent, stay for the delusion that you’re one spritz away from becoming irresistibly iconic.

I wanted to really like this fragrance. I did my homework, read reviews etc. I splashed this on and ew, not so much. I'm 62 and all I could think of was my mom's cupboard of Jean Nate. I splashed some more - let's be patient ... still nope and the fragrance was gone - longevity was zero. Even as an ODT ...should have lasted more than an hour. Okay so I notice a lot of the poor reviews are due to the longevity of the cologne and I wanted to address that in my review. This cologne was invented in 1792 and keeps the same recipe and ingredients (which is why I purchased it). Back in the 18th century colognes and perfumes were not used like how they are today where you wear them to go to the club. They were made to prevent you from smelling bad and also as a status symbol. If you want a cologne that stands out the moment you walk into a room I recommend you go and buy a 170 dollar bottle of Versace Eros or Dior Sauvage. Those are "make a statement" fragrances. 4711 is a subtle "fresh citrus" smelling fragrance that isn't overbearing. It makes you smell clean and fresh (that's the best way I can put it). It's not a statement maker, it's not designed to set you apart, and it's not designed to go clubbing. It's designed to make you smell pleasant and not bad. I found the longevity to not be terrible. I applied some liberally on my skin and shirt and on the skin it lasted about 3-4 hours. On my shirt it lasted a LOT longer. If you want a lot more longevity I recommend splashing some on the collar of your shirt to last most of the day. However because this is a classic old cologne it is designed to work better when it mixes with your natural odor. I find it smells totally different on me than on my friends. On my friends it's like buying a different cologne every time. However on clothes it smells the same consistently. So be warned if you splash it on clothes it will last longer but smell like it does out of bottle. All in all as a huge history nerd I love that I'm wearing a 300 year old cologne that was invented a year before Marie Antoinette passed on. As a guy I love that it makes me smell fresh and clean and well put together and doesn't make a huge statement. It's got great scent at a great price point and one bottle should last a good while. It gets a 9/10 for me.

I have loved this stuff since I was a kid and my mom told me about it. When I wear it, I am always complimented on the crisp, clean, fragrance.

I purchased the 3.4 oz. Bottle just to try it out. I received it today, the smell is awesome however it doesn’t last very long. I tested it on my arm and it dissipated after 20 minutes. I took a shower and applied moisturizer on my neck and used 30 sprays and it boosted it. 3 hours later I can still smell it faintly. It is definitely a summer scent so this should perform a little better with the help of a moisturizer but very clean, fresh, and citrusy. Kinda smells like a lemon scented dusting spray without the chemical smell really good scent.

Super content, je retrouve les senteurs d'antan. Encore un peu chère pour de l'eau de Cologne pour la quantité. Mais paraît il quand on aime on ne compte pas.
