Star Wars Instrumental Solos for Strings (Movies I-VI): Cello, Book & Online Audio/Software (Pop Instrumental Solos Series) Paperback – January 1, 2009

This review is for Star Wars A Musical Journey Episodes I-IV Instrumental Solos, with CD. I purchased the cello version of this sheet music. This book includes standard piano accompaniment, plus the solo cello music also comes inside the book as a removable insert. The printing quality is excellent.The CD is well thought-out and organized. The CD musical accompaniment quality is good -- not the terrible midi tones you get with some sheet music. Each song has the recorded "demo" version of the song, then another track with the "play along" version, which is like the "demo" version without the cello.I deducted one star because the CD failed at track 29. I tried it on three different computers, and could only access the first 28 tracks. I emailed the publisher (Alfred)recently and am waiting to hear back. Even withouth the last few tracks, I was able to access the music for the most popular songs. These included "Star Wars main theme," The Imperial March, and Across the Stars.++++ Update 6/17/2011 ++++ I recieved an email and a replacement book from Alfred. The CD in the replacement book was flawless. Very good customer service.I would highly recommend this book.

Bought this for my wife. She loved it. Great learning tool. The arrangements are made so that the instrument (cello in this case) plays the main melody. It's obviously not perfect since the orchestra uses multiple instruments, but it's pretty close. The included CD is cool, clearly synthesized instruments, but not bad. It did clip a little in my speakers, so the sound quality wasn't what I would have wanted. Again, this is great for learning a new instrument or just having fun.

Very well composed and fun to play! Came quickly and during quarantine.

Bought for a boy who’s been playing cello for five years. The music isn’t easy or overly simplified, but it’s also not such a challenge that it becomes unapproachable. He can sight read almost all of it, but there are some bits that he needed to practice to nail down. Great balance for music he’s just playing for fun.

Gute Auswahl an Stücken. Nicht zu anspruchsvoll arrangiert. Musik auf der Begleitung-CD klingt sehr künstlich (vom Computer generiert), aber nicht zu weit entfernt vom Original. Das scheint nach meiner Wahrnehmung auch für die Tempi zu gelten. In jedem Fall: es macht Spaß!
