The Rose series is for kids reading who are probably a little more mature, maybe 10-11 years old at least (and again mature) and can read and comprehend at at least a 5th-6th grade level. It is a fantasy book that has magic in it (some "dark" magic). It is geared more towards girls. There's no real violence but there is some things that aren't really appropriate to the younger kids.

Fun Read
The second book did not disappoint. Holly Webb did a nice job of mixing old and new elements. The story is fun, the atmosphere is even more fun. This is one of those books where you just enjoy hanging out in the world. The tension is light, but not boring. Just enough to be exciting but not nerve-racking to a young reader. This is deliberately on the younger end of the 8-12 range, but the story still manages to have enough depth to make it interesting to an adult children's lit reader.

Another critical assignment for level-headed and magically gifted Rose!
This fun series continues with this story about Rose assisting Mr. Fountain her employer (she's a maid) AND her master (she's also a magical apprentice) in trying to protect the realm's beloved Princess Jane. Love Rose and her practical down to earth self juxtaposed with her powerful and mostly untaught magic. And I think Holly Webb has introduced a villain that will hold us in good stead for several books! Can't wait to read the next one!

just my cup of tea - good for all ages
Rose and Rose and the lost princess are wonderfully written with detail but room for your imagination to fill in the blanks also. I loved the Victorian era with magic setting. Rose is a no nonsense serious child with a good attitude, who thrives on helping people. I love her and hope for many more books about her and her friends as they puzzle out even more mysteries.

Fun Magical Read
I loved the first book so much I searched for the second and will be on the lookout for the next one. Though meant for students aged 11 - 14 the story is captivating and at a nice reading level even for adult readers. The story flowed nicely and the explanations for the more "technical" things were totally believable. I highly recommend this book.

Fantastically Magical
My children fell in love with the first Rose book and they were biting at the bit to hear how this one ended. We can't wait to read the next one.

Such a delightful read
I love to read books that have adventure, without heavy romance and without some political agenda. This book has adventure, good character development, and sheer fun fantasy. Got to read the whole series.

such a great book
I read this to my daughter, and gave her such ideas for adventures of her own. Excellent series, and looking forward to more books in the series.

Lovely story
I didn’t know what to expect with this series, also didn’t realise it was a series! Thoroughly enjoyed them, although you will find yourself needing to know what happens next so it might be a good idea to buy them all at once as they are not very long.

Lovely intrigue
I read this to my daughter. Book one was great too. I really enjoyed the stories with magic and twists and turns. Much more interesting than the books I normally read to my kids. I loved it. Very magical and beautifully written.

Rose and the Lost Princess
I bought this book for my Grand-daughter in America. At nine years old she is an avid reader of Holly Webb books, and she loved this one.
