Black Night: Black Wings Series #2

I quite liked the first book in the series. It was a promising start. After now having read the second book in the series I see now reason to change my mind. I will most likely continue with this series.Madeline is now pretty well aware that she is a rather powerful entity and very much part of the world that goes bump in the night. Or perhaps I should say bang rather than bump when Madeline is involved. She is not yet aware of how powerful she actually is though but she is a quick learner. Sadly, some of the powers she demonstrated in the previous book are gone since they were part of Evangeline and her possession of Madeline. She recovers a few other though, which will hopefully stay with her. That together with the fact that most of the various despicable villains in the book always underestimate Madeline makes for a few really enjoyable surprise scenes. The scene where Madeline walks back into the court of the, less than honest, fae queen after having…(well you have to read the book to know what she did won’t you) was really good.The other characters develop as well and J.B. is almost likable in this book. Nathaniel is still a bit of a sleazebag but he is also a bit more than that. The junk food loving grumpy Gargoyle is ever present of course. Then there are of course a few monsters, werewolves faes and the usual bunch of fallen angels around to fill out the scenes.The story is quite okay. The faes and the fallen plots and schemes as usual and, surprise surprise, Madeline ends up in the middle. It is decently paced with quite a bit of action as well as verbal sparring. It also advances the main story arc in a good enough way.All in all this is a good urban fantasy book will lots of magic and supernatural stuff in it.

This review will be for the hole series.This is one of the best series i have read. I give this series a 4,5 star rating because there is a few plot holes that only gets filled in if you read the short stories. And the main characters is both naive and stupid at certain parts of the series. I realy like the humor in the series. Beezle, the gargoyle is one of the funiest characters in the series. The world building is very good especially the angel mythology. It's more of a young adult book then adult. The main character is a 30 year old virgin? And the sex scenes fade to black.I like how Maddy evolves across the series and goes from a goody two shoes pushover to complete badass.

Maddy sure knows how to take a beating. This story had a lot of action and kept my interest. I did get a little lost as the characters and relationships are a bit complicated. But I got that sorted out. This is a fun series.

I got the first book of this series as a sample and ended up buying it and all the rest in the series. The characters are very engaging and although it was the same protagonist/antagonist save the world theme for each book it was still enjoyable overall. I really enjoyed the pithy comments and byplay between characters. There is just something about mouthy women that appeals to me (grin).

I don't think I could stand it if Madeline Black got beat up one more time. Most supernatural books are not violent on one person like this one was. This was a really exciting book. I love a book were you can't trust anyone but yourself. Madeline is my hero.

Another great book in the "black wings" series! I'm hooked! I couldn't put this book down and read it in a days time!

I hadn't enjoyed book one that much. But it was a foregone conclusion that I would buy this book after viewing the cover model wielding a long sword with a grim, determined expression on her face.And to be fair, the book *really* does justice to its cover. Madeline Black - daughter of Azazel and descendant of Lucifer has her back to the wall with enemies popping out of the sky to eliminate her. She takes a fair beating - I lost track of the number of times she was injured and knocked out in this book. But she gives back better than she takes. This book is popping with *well-written* action every twenty pages.It's no surprise that Madeline packs a punch as a half-angel - her unique heritage ensures that. But she is no Mary Sue - her enemies are just as tough or tougher and she has to hold her own against them with her will and magic. And there is one thing you like about the protagonist - unlike so many urban fantasy heroines, she is not angsty, she is not whiny - she takes whatever comes her way with cool verve.Her relationship with Nathaniel see-saws - you think they are friends, but something bad happens and no they aren't again. Gabriel is still barred to her, but Madeline is beginning to believe she can affect a change with her deeds for the fallen court. And she gains a very unexpected ally at the end which leads me to believe that Book 3 will be interesting indeed.

Wonderful series, great characters, great writing!

I liked this series and looking forward to reading the next ones. This one i felt was slow in parts, but I still enjoyed it. I love Beezle and his sass. I like Nathaniel even after what he did even if was under a spell. I love Maddie and her strength, I like Gabriel but he seems to see the negative all the time.Can't wait to read the next one in the series.Happy Reading :)

I read the first book in the series and enjoyed it but the second one was better Maddy is getting use to having powers can't wait for book three. This is a author you should try.

Well, I'm not a teenager anymore stil love fantasy. This heroine is over 30, so you have more sympathy if you are over 25. Yes, should read this series if you are an adult and still live in fantasy world.

This is a very good follow up to the first in the series, well worth collecting whle set very good read
