It works and useful

If you don't have three hands you need this to size and hold chain while you insert link or pin.

Sturdy and functional, yes. However, it only measures .75 and 1.0 chain wear — which is fine for knowing when to replace a chain for 10-speed bikes (75% wear) and 1-2 speed bikes (100% wear). But you'll have to eyeball it for 11- and 12-speed bikes, which are recommended to have the chain replaced after .5 (i.e. 50%) wear. If you're checking most mountain bikes and road bikes, you might want a more precise tool. Also, mine was shipped without any instructions. But you can roll over the images on this Amazon listing for some general usage scenarios and then look up how to use a chain checker on YouTube. Not ideal, but it works.

It's not super heavy duty by any means, so dont expect a big sturdy shop tool (which is probably a good thing for a bike tool). It works as advertised. I checked 5 bikes and apparently I need at least 2 replacement chains, which coincides with the age and wear of those two bicycles. Buy it...the price is right.

Sturdy well made. Does what it says. No instructions with it but pretty easy to figure it out if you know what you're doing.

Set it on your chain and figure out if your chain is a) not worn b) slightly warn consider replacement or c) worn, replace it.Simple device, pretty much does the job.

This Bike Chain Wear Indicator Tool is just as pictured, and described. It is actually thicker/sturdier than I imagined. I like the shape of this tool over some of the other/similar tools for how it measures bolts. Purchase with confidence.

Its is easy to use and gets the job done. It will tell you if you need a new chain for your bicycle.
