Great way to find broken underground dog fenc wire
As others have said, there’s a learning curve. We had some grading done and lost the wire. The grader found about 10 feet of the black wire. Initially I couldn’t get a signal and went back to the instructions. The YouTube video that is shown didn’t help me much with a Cat5 he shows. But what I eventually did was remove the twisted wires from the box and put the leads on the bare wires. It doesn’t matter which wire to use for positive and negative. I also learned that due to the distance of about 1,000 feet from the transmitter, I had to have the volume turned up all the way on the transmitter. I had been digging everywhere in the woods looking for the small black wire to no avail. I was getting beeps on both sides and then the receiver would stop and I’d dig. I thought the numerous rocks were giving it a false signal, but nope. So I went backwards to a place the wire didn’t have so many roots around it. There are so many black roots. Eventually, with the help of the young grader, we located the wire. Remember you need to go slow and when you don’t hear the beep, that’s the wire! It beeps on either side of the wire.We started following it every 10 feet, got used to it and jumped 20 then about 50 feet. We found one end! Then we went to about 100 feet out and found the wire. We worked back to where the grading area was and found the wire, then lost the signal completely. Going back to where we last found it, instead of pulling it up, we just cut it and was able to connect with this nice yellow heavy duty wire: https://smile.amazon.com/Maximum-Performance-Dog-Fence-Wire/dp/B07K2C3S8Y?pd_rd_w=MlqjM&content-id=amzn1.sym.deffa092-2e99-4e9f-b814-0d71c40b24af&pf_rd_p=deffa092-2e99-4e9f-b814-0d71c40b24af&pf_rd_r=5Z8CEZHX11QZ9VCTEHXM&pd_rd_wg=gBkxC&pd_rd_r=9807f6f7-3d58-4103-a854-3bbbd275fe75&pd_rd_i=B07K2C3S8Y&psc=1&ref_=pd_bap_d_rp_34_iFor the folks that said it wasn’t working, try turning up the volume on the transmitter. Ours was able to go through steel doors and didn’t lose the ability with a truck and trailer in the path either. We were fortunate that the 8 year old flags in the woods could still be seen so we knew what area to look. I also remembered where the installer had gone on the other side that I mowed. To have called the company that installed it would have been $150 plus $1.50 a foot over 15 feet. They couldn’t come out for over a week, yikes! My only complaint is the storage bag that came with it. It sucks and could be better designed in my opinion. The area on the back where the instructions are stored is upside down from how I think it should be. There’s no specific area to store the earbuds and they were hard to get out as they’d been pushed to the bottom. I have a Thermopen Smoke that’s carry case is much better designed. A small meshed area for the buds would be nice and could be put on the inside of the flap with a small piece of Velcro to hold it nice and secure. I may be putting the receiver and transmitter in backwards as the only way to pull them out is by the leads but I couldn’t get them in with the leads down. I have the three leads in the middle section. The bag itself is of heavy material which I really appreciate. I also appreciate that there’s not the elastic bands to hold the units in place as those bands tend to wear out quickly. I just think some tweaking in the design is much needed.

It works, with some learning...
It works well for dog fences. Takes an hour of learning in the beginning to overcome the poorly-written instructions. But, it will find your fence break and also help you find & flag the fence when your lawn company comes to aerate.Despite the awful instructions, it works and for the price - can't complain.

Great Tool At A Reasonable Price
The first thing I have to say is that if you need to trace an underground wire, you need a tool like this one, and not a regular signal tracer. A couple of years ago I purchased a signal tracer to trace alarm system wires at my church. The unit worked perfectly well. When I developed a fault in the boundary wire for my automower, I attempted to use that tracer. It did not work at all. I suspect that it uses the wrong frequency. Now for my experience with the Kolsol F02. I knew I had a break in the boundary wire of my mower. I connected the transmitter, per the instructions, and proceeded to follow the boundary. After some distance, the signal decreased and then disappeared. It wasn't a sharp end of the signal like you might expect from a broken wire, but a fairly quick decrease to no signal. I marked the spot and went back to the charging station and moved the transmitter to the other end of the boundary wire. Again, I followed the wire and at about 16 feet from the first spot the signal faded rather quickly. I suspected that my break was somewhere in that 16 feet of wire. I carefully dug the wire up with a screw driver and tugged on it. It came free rather easily and I was able to pull it free. I laid the wire on the ground to find the break. Sure enough there was a small hole where a rodent had apparently dug and bit through the wire.My point in relating my experience is to point out that your results may very depending on the mineralization and dampness of your soil. You may get a quick decrease in the signal at the break, or you might see a decrease and ending of the signal a short distance from the actual break. Carefully digging up the wire and giving it a tug can be a big help in locating the break.Get an F02. You won't be sorry.

Works perfectly
I use it to localize my power line to my garage in yard and it does work perfectly. Of course this is made of cheap plastic and would not survived in a professional setting were employee would abuse it. But for occasional use it works perfectly and if use with care it probably last a long time.

Funcionan!!
