Nice quality, can be used as is OR mounted on wood
Outstanding quality -- and set up so that you can either use it as is, or remove the cap and mount it on a broomstick or whatnot. Very happy.

It will keel
This looks double edge but it isn’t, good thing because it would be illegal. With that said though the blade is durable and sharp. I like that it cab be screwed on to a mop handle or a metal extendable handle.

Amazing
This is my second one of these. My other one is getting a bit rusty after being outside in the salty, hot, humid air of southwest florida for about 8 years now. Besides the SOG SPIRIT this is the only one of these spear point blades that has a socking screw to stop it from slipping on the handle/broom handle. I've used this for everything from spearing snakes, coons, possums and other critters trying to kill my barn cats and chickens. It's an amazing blade and would recommend it to any/everyone

Plastic headed mop handles are your best bet
As other reviewers have mentioned the screw threading is quirky. The blade screwed on to plastic threaded mop handle with no problem. Likewise, it screwed on to a wooden threaded mop handle without complication. Meanwhile, I have tried several metal threaded mop handles with seemingly identical threading in terms of pitch and number of the threads and haven't found one yet that will screw on more than a quarter of the way. Because I'm stubborn I'm going to keep experimenting. My operating assumption is that the metal threads are either slightly too thick or not rounded off enough. And, by the way, be careful, this thing is extremely sharp right out of the box! As a follow-up to my original review I can tell you that if you are willing to spend a bit of time with a round file chamfering and rounding the edges of the metal threads on the mop handle ... then you can screw the blade all the way on. Yay!

The handle does come off.
I had bought the other version of a similar type of spear from Smith & Wesson, quite some time ago. However, I had permanently fastened it to a painter's pole handle which makes go from short sword length to thus extend it to spear length. So having a spare broom handle I wanted to have another type of knife to do a similar thing with, I ordered this item from Elk Ridge. For those that entered a review about the handle "not unscrewing or coming off", there's a tiny screw to hold it in place. Whether or not, this screw is supposed to be kept or not, I don't know but overall the spear/knife does as advertised. After having tested it a bit, I would for use as a knife just keep that screw handy to add to the structural integrity of the blade staying put on the handle mount. I also found that it is well balanced for throwing whether as a whole knife or just the blade head separate from the handle itself. And even the handle by itself, makes for a good force multiplier/palm stick (yawara/shubo/kubaton). So overall a very versatile tool and worthwhile purchase.

You should Buy with caution
Both good and bad, we bought two of these. One came In with the box pushed in but still intact and we had to look around a bit to figure out how to unscrew the underneath part to be able to use a mop with this. Of the two one had the inside very tight looks like a piece of metal sticking out so it was difficult to pull out and put back the underside of these. The sharpness is no joke though but just one side only on both with a pointed tip. Strongly recommend to buy more then one in case one of theses comes damaged like mine did, certainly wish i could get a refund for one of these as we can’t use one of these as intended. Everything else is ok.

Just a FYI
I just wanted to let people know, that if you decide to use this product as a spear, you may have to experiment with various handles. When I tried to screw the metal handle into it, I could only seat maybe two threads, not what I expected. So I tried a wooden handle and had no problem. I also tried two different plastic handles and had no problem. As I wanted the security of a metal handle, I thought it best just to take the blade to Lowes and try it out on different metal handles. I tried several different ones and except for one, which was a wooden handle with a metal tip, I just couldn’t find one that fit. I’m sure there are some out there. I’m content with a wooden handle with a metal tip. So don’t give up, there are handles out there that will fit. Good product and I’m happy with my purchase.
