Sheer Mineral Liquid Sunscreen

I loved that this was made for sensitive faces(I have a little eczema and my dermatologist recommended it) and it's easy to apply. You can rub it in or let it sit on top of your skin for more protection. The only thing is if you don't rub it in, your face will look rather white. I did this because my face burns very easily, but I looked a little ghostly! The scent did not bother me and I never had the problem of it burning my eyes. I wore it to the beach but stayed mostly in the shade and didn't get in the water, so I can't comment about whether it wears off in the water. I still got a great tan on my face and will use it again at the beach. I haven't tried it yet under makeup, because I bought the Cetaphil day lotion for sensitive skin(Redness Relieving Daily Facial Moisturizer with an SPF of 20) and it has sunscreen in it. Also, I don't put on makeup to sunbathe.

I love the feel of this sunscreen on my skin. I think it works great!! One negative feature I need to mention: it does have a white tint but when fully rubbed in it just makes me look like I'm wearing foundation. I have one step above fair skin so it's not too bad on me. My husband is very fair and gets red. the sunscreen just evens out his skin tone and looks natural on him. My sister on the other hand has a more bronze complexion and she refuses to try it because she says it would make her look too white.

PROS- Good sun protection. Goes on with a matte finish. CONS- Leaves a white cast. Takes extra time to thoroughly rub into the skin. I rub in a little at a time. I have olive skin, so white cast is noticeable. I will finish what I purchased as it does the job of sun protection, but will be going back to the EltaMD mineral sun screen products…a price jump but an elegant product that goes on quickly and easily with no white cast.

Because I have melasma I am always on the look out for a all mineral sun screen. When I saw this one and they said it was sheer I was so happy because usually all mineral sun blocks are white and pasty. Sure enough, when I applied this on my face it too left a white thick film even after trying to rub it in. While I’m sure the protection level is good, if you’re looking for something sheer this product is not it! I can however recommend two awesome products that are mineral based and that Amazon sells. One is; CeraVe. It has a slight tint to it and blends beautifully into my skin. It’s active ingredients are Titanium dioxide 5.5% and Zinc oxide 10%. SPF 30. I love this product!! The other is much more expensive it’s by Colorscience. Sunforgettable offers SPF 50 with a glowing slightly glittery touch. Active ingredient is 12% Zinc oxide. Both are great options especially for those of us with sensitive skin. They enable us to leave the house with the protection we need, but not looking like we just lathered our face with toothpaste.

I have rosacea and was in need for a sunblock that was gentle on my sensitive and infected skin. After searching around online, I came across this. It was advertised as sensitive-skin friendly, didn't really have any ingredients that stood out to me to be rosacea-triggering, and it was SPF 50 which is nice to use on your face. Well, this sunblock was certainly interesting. It was thick and creamy; because of the texture, I thought it would have no problem in providing protection. However, it was actually difficult to spread across my face because it would kind of "clump" or not spread evenly. On top of that, it has an extremely noticeable whitecast, which I normally can deal with, but this was just way too much. Additionally, it was starting to sting my face. Ouch. So, I used it on the back of my hand and noticed it was a lot more useful for the body than the face. The spread was the same, but it was still an easier spread. Even though it did leave a white cast, it was a lot more bearable than on the face which made you look like Dr. Moreau. A big plus for using this sunblock on your body is that if you let it set after a few minutes and run your hand over your skin, it won't smear. Also! I had forgotten I had it left on the back of my hand and ran my hands under water. The sunblock didn't come off! So, I figured it was definitely meant for the body and not the face.

Like other reviewers have said this product does NOT rub in so it's invisible; it leaves a white cast BUT, as a lap swimmer I find that my face doesn't get as dark so I don't have goggle rings around my eyes which I really like. I would not use this product other than for lap swimming because of the white cast.

I bought this product because it had the highest zinc content I could find. I was swimming in a relay around Key West and would be in the sun for 6-8 hours in all. Cetaphil sunblock was thick and left a white tint on my skin. I reapplied every 2-3 hours and didn’t get burned. It did a great job! I may not use it for an hour by the pool or gardening, but if you need serious sun protection, this is a great choice!!
