Kitchen Trash Can with Lid, Touchless Waste Bin, Large 45 Liter, Rectangular, White Stainless Steel

I paid over $150 over a year ago and it was some of the best money I've ever spent. This item is so well-designed and such high quality. It looks great and works as well today as when I bought it. The made-to-fit can liners come in a pouch that fits in the back of the can, so they're right there when you need to change. This is the best trash can I've ever owned. I never thought I'd want to buy specialty trash liners, but these work so well that I am a convert. Excellent product.

Someone FINALLY made a WHITE, stainless, rectangular, 55-liter kitchen trash can without any motion sensors or other bells and whistles! I’ve been searching for a kitchen trash can that meets these specs for about four years, but nothing ever quite fit the bill. Circular and oval cans are not a good use of our space, silver and copper colored ones draw too much attention to themselves, I don’t want to deal with electronics on motion sensors breaking or malfunctioning, etc. And then finally, Simple Human makes this! Pros: 1. The foot pedal is sturdy and can be compressed fully even if all you can get is a toe on the corner of it, which is great when you also have a baby on one hip and your other hand full of trash. You can literally do a walk-by-trashing with just a little side step. 2. The lid that opens with foot pedal compression is an ultra light, flat cover (as opposed to the larger, heavier lid used for bag changes) which allows it to pop open more quickly and with less pressure, but then also has a cushioned close so there’s no noise afterwards. 3. It comes in the 55-liter size which is much more reasonable for our family of five, resulting in fewer bag changes. 4. The bottom of the can has enough grip that it can’t be accidentally slid across the floor or out of its intended spot by little passers-by. 5. The back of the can holds and dispenses the appropriate bags towards the inside of the can for fast, easy, no-excuses bag replacement. 6. The outer lid used for bag changes subtly and elegantly covers the rim of the garbage bag for a secure fit but a seamless look. 7. Have I mentioned it’s rectangular? This reduces not only wasted space but also how much floor debris can work its way around the back of the can. Cons: 1. The top lid that opens with foot pedal compression is a brushed stainless silver, even on the white stainless can. It was certainly not a deal breaker for this mom who has been looking for something even in this ballpark for years, but it’s worth noting. 2. Additionally, the top lid is light and thin, which makes opening faster but also means it can be more easily dented, and those dents show. The lid on the first can we received had three minor but visible dents in it just from the packaging and shipping process. (I called Simple Human and they were willing to send an entire lid to me with no questions asked, except they didn’t yet have extra white lids because the product was so new. Amazon handled the return/exchange with absolutely no fuss, so I’m not even taking a star off for this. Customer service from both companies was excellent.) 3. I mentioned the base is sturdy and doesn’t allow the can to slide across the floor? Well, I didn’t realize until I switched to this product how often I use my foot/leg to slide the trash can closer to my present prepping or cooking space when my hands are already full. So plan ahead—you’ll need to pick it up and place it where you’re going to want it before you’re holding the drippy melon rinds or meat packaging that warrants a very close receptacle. 4. The Simple Human bags that fit in the dispenser are a little pricier than normal bags. It’s worth it to me, and Amazon offers a 5% discount for Subscribe and Save on them, but the bag dispensing feature won’t be a help for anyone not wanting to buy the bags that fit there. 5. The top silver lid shows little fingerprints easily, however, it also wipes off easily; just buff with a damp paper towel. As there’s no functional reason to touch that top lid at all, fingerprint frequency is decreasing as my children figure this new contraption out. None of these Cons take away from a 5-Star rating for my family. This has been a much needed addition to my kitchen and I’m extatic about it. (If you don’t understand why, you don’t have enough children yet. ;)

The simplehuman Liner Rim Rectangular Step Trash Can is a great, functional trash can with a sleek profile and contemporary design. Not to mention its spacious interior. The innovative mechanism that helps silently and slowly close the trash lid with ease is what makes this trash can stand out from competitors. Even being placed straight against the wall, the top of the lid does not even touch the wall when you fully open the trash can. ---($129.99 for a 12 gal.) (note: I bought this model [12 gal.] for $103.99 on May 2016)--- The high price compared to other +10 gallon trash bins might draw you away from buying this model if you are on a budget, however you need to ask yourself two questions, "is it worth it and does it meet my needs and wants?". I would say its worth it if you have some extra cash laying around because this trash can is meant to last a while, I don't mean 5 years!! It comes with a 10 year warranty and just by the looks of the build of the trash bin, I potentially see more than 10 years of service life. Like a great investment. Well its hard to give a more detailed review since this trash can is simple, and writing even more will make you more indecisive. So I attached several images to help you decide. I recommend that you buy the white steel model if you want minimal visible scratch marks. Stainless steel looks great at first when its brand new, however as the trash can ages, you are going to see a whole lot of marks, including water marks and scratches from cleaning the trash can. I got the white 55 liter option. This trash can is great. It's a sad state for trash. Garbages are much more expensive than the last time I purchased one. Also, they all seem to be terribly cheap and poorly designed. Before I purchased this product, I sampled many of the reviews to get some input on what folks think about this garbage. There were a few concerns I thought could cause a stink. One theme I noticed was that the product is susceptible to denting. Clearly, based on the pictures you can find here, this product can be dented. My can showed up well packaged and not dented or blemished. After reading the reviews, I was also concerned that many of the various finishes would flake off over time. I ordered the white color in hopes that the white is a paint that will adhere longer without flaking. Time will tell if that was a good choice. If there was a solid polycarbonate option, I would choose that in a heartbeat. I just want my expensive garbage to last. The bag-dispenser box on the back of the trash can is a great touch. It keeps the trash can far enough away from the wall so that the lid can be opened fully when replacing the bag. The simplehuman bags are nice. For Q size bags, they are the perfect durability to avoid headaches. I wish this trash was less expensive. I also wish there was a super durable (dent proof) option. Otherwise, this is a great product among the garbage competition.

Who in the world can pay this much for a freakin' trash can, I mean really. I really debated about it but took a chance as it has all the qualities I was looking for and just couldn't find - easy to clean, minimizes odors with fully closing lid, big enough without being too big. Lo and hold, I got the thing and it simply rocks! It looks so much nicer than other trash cans, minimizes odors that can escape much better than anything I've seen, and the lid opening mechanism is solid (doesn't feel like it'll break in a year or two) and the lid closes slowly (but not too slowly) so it doesn't bang shut. Bought the special trash bags with it for some reason but figured I'd switch to cheaper bags once those run out. But it turns out the bags are worth the extra price - they haven't leaked at all and you can stuff them much fuller and not worry about it tearing. My husband really noticed the difference in quality asked me to continue getting the special bags that go with the trash can, since he's the one that has to take the trash out to the curb all the time. I'd buy another one of these without hesitation if I needed it.

I had been dealing with a plastic step can whose lid kept popping off, driving everyone in the house mad. My husband insisted that I purchase a "metal can." I have purchased simplehuman products before and know they stand up very very well so decided to splurge on this. I pondered ordering it from Target and having it shipped directly there so I could just return there if there were any dents in the can. Ultimately I decided to order it here because I fell in love with the white and Target only offered stainless. When I came I opened it and checked thoroughly for dents. There was only one small crease and a scratch in the lid which I won't bother sending it back for. It came with some sample bags from simplehuman and they are awesome. They do definitely hold more than my 13 gal. bags I had been previously using. I haven't tried to put in the 13 gal. bags yet but other reviews said they will fit. I think I'm sold on getting more of the simplehuman brand. The step mechanism is great, no worries about the lid popping off, changing the bag is awesome and the bags hold a ton. Overall great purchase!

This is a great trash can. It's well built, the bag loads easily, and the lid opens and closes quietly. I like how large the pedal is and that it won't pinch your toes between the step and the can like our oxo brand one does when I use it barefoot. I do wish the white sides of the lid were metal but the plastic they're made from is very sturdy. The whole thing wipes down easily and, while I was skeptical, the stainless lid really doesn't get noticeable fingerprints which are a constant struggle to keep on top of with our fridge and stove. My favorite thing about it is the lid. The part that opens is the center stainless steel area. The outer part of the lid lifts to hold the bag in place. The lid closes softly and is flush with the outer part making it difficult for little ones and pets to nudge open. I like everything about this trash can except for one thing - the pocket for bags. I appreciate the convenience aspect of it but with seven kids we generate 1-2 bags of trash per day so as much as I'd like to use the simplehuman bags they're just too expensive for our family to use on a daily basis. After the sample bags are used (they're fantastic quality) I'll be going back to the glad bags I get at the grocery store which fit almost as well. I'd just ignore the bag dispenser pocket but it's big. It sticks out far enough so the can has to be a couple extra inches away from the wall. When empty it leaves a gap inside the can where garbage can get snagged when pulling the bag out. My only other complaint is a superficial one. The company name/logo is emblazoned on the front of the lid. None of our other simplehuman products have such obvious branding. I'd much prefer the name be somewhere less noticeable. I like this trash can so much that I'm considering exchanging it for the 55L version. I feel I can justify the price of the liners if the can is bigger and holds more per bag. It really is a wonderfully well made trash can, I find myself wishing it came in a version without the bag holder. I feel silly raving about a trash can but this one is just that good. ------------------------------------------------------------------ I just wanted to update now that we've had this garbage can for awhile. We kept the smaller one and it's still working flawlessly. Every other week or so grab our roll of inexpensive garbage bags from the grocery store and spend a couple minutes pulling them off the roll and, one by one, folding the long folded bags in quarters. Then I stack them up and put them in the dispenser pocket. It's a bit of a hassle to set up but keeps our garbage bag costs low and our bag change time minimal. I've had to clean messes off the can several times and I'm impressed by how well it cleans up. The inside brim of the outer lid ring and the inside of the lid, which are both white plastic, can get stained but they clean up well with a magic eraser.

first of all, I thought I was crazy spending $100+ on a trash can. But the form factor and modern look matches the overall look and feel that I was going for for my bedroom. it's the little things that makes this trash can special vs the cheap ones you can find at Wal-Mart, Target etc. When you step on the lid opener, when you release the foot pedal.. it closes slowly. This is a big plus, as most pedal releases slam after you release the foot pedal. Inside the trash can liner, they have a built in compartment where you can store your trash can liner rather than putting a few extra on the bottom or stashing the extra liners somewhere else in your home. This is a small, but awesome touch to the trash can. I'm pretty sure the trash can liners were meant to fit and work best with the liners bought from Simplehuman themselves, but if you wanted to be cheap I'm sure you can buy elsewhere. But for me, I'd rather buy the Simplehuman liners because they have a compartment that fits the refill boxes perfectly. They also have several trash cans with different sizes, so in the event you need to reload they conveniently label which letter (code) that fits your exact model, which for my particular trash can is "M". No need to try and remember by heart what size your trash can is. As I was writing this review and changing my trash liner, as I pulled a trash bag out, there was a tag that said "you're running low!" again, a small, but very smooth touch to make a simple product better. Don't hesitate to buy people, this shit is great! I got a few compliments on it already from my guests. Never thought in a million years someone would compliment a trash can. But hey, I'll take it.

Non so quanto durerà nel tempo...sembra solido...per adesso devo dire eccellente..!! Lo tengo in cucina esposto, quindi si vede e deve fare arredo (per quanto possa farlo un secchio dell'immondizia). Bello da vedere, capiente il giusto, funzionale al massimo. Pedale favoloso, basta prenderci la mano per premerlo nel modo corretto...e funziona alla grande. Sigilla molto bene e non lascia passare gli odori (per me era fondamentale). I sacchetti poi...da 11... non da 10 da 11...favolosi. Chi li critica non capisco davvero cosa vuole. Sono super resistenti, fatti al millimetro, non passa mezzo odore quando li chiudi, non si rompono mai, hanno le maniglie. ne comprerò altri per i bagni. Straconsigliato (cercando ed avendo pazienza nell'aspettare magari le offerte...perché a prezzo pieno costa come fosse fatto d'oro invece che di alluminio)

When I first saw this in a shop I thought how much, that's a ridiculous price 'for a bin'. So bought a cheaper sensor bin, that didn't last long, so bought a better quality sensor bin and that didn't last long either, so then bought a cheaper plastic one that I hated, so finally bit the bullet and bought this and now of course I kick myself that I didn't get this first. It looks good, and as per the name it's simple but the quality is fantastic and everything about it is well designed Full width foot pedal so it's easy to open Soft close lid. Inner lid holds the liner securely and hides the bag from outside. Smooth on the inside which means when you remove a full bag it slides out very easily. Bags stored in the back so changing is super fast. Highly recommended.

i can't even fully explain how happy i am that i bought this garbage. the price stops being a concern once you have this garbage can. It's heavy so my kids dont tip it over. the white stainless steel is so sleek looking. The garbage liner hides the garbage bags and the bag dispenser. The slow close lid. man just everything about it i love. I love the rectangular shape and how it lines up nicely against the wall. It's also a good size and i'm not having to take the garbage our every day.

Yes - its pricey.... But it looks smart, has a large capacity, discourages odor with a quiet lid that fits flush and is easy to swap in new liners. So easy that keeping it clean should pose no issues. We love it!
