I started restoring a 1957 star craft boat, 18 months ago. About a month ago I finally put the motor on for a run. The motor started, then died. Never would start up again. Changed the solenoid, nothing. I found this site and ordered the started for a 1957 Johnson 35 hp motor. It came in a few days later. Put it on the boat, pushed the starter button and it started.bafter all these months, she is ready to go in the water. The starter was midrange in price. It did what it is expected to do. That little gear was spinning so fast, the motor had to start.Wiring was fairly easy. The connection on the starter that takes the wire from the solenoid broke off the old one. I read that the nut should be tight. I tightened right off the starter. All in all it was a learning experience. I would buy from this company again.

I've bought and installed two of these now - one in my '83 E35ELCTS 35HP Evinrude, and one in my '83 J35ELCTS Johnson. It'll also fit my '80 E35ECSM. ELM makes high quality products, with excellent hardware.
