Great with Procreate
I have a 2017 5th Gen iPad that is still in good shape. I didn't want to buy a new one just to be able to use a pen, but needed one for Procreate. This pen is great! The only feature that the Apple pens have over this one is that they are pressure sensitive, so you can make lines with varying thickness using pressure. You will need to take additional steps with this one, but it's not impossible. Accuracy is a 4/5 for me, which isn't bad once you get used to it, because even if it's not accurate to the pixel, it's consistently inaccurate, if that makes sense. One weird quirk to note: when my daughter tried the pen on her iPad it skipped and lagged terribly. The only difference between her iPad and mine is that I had a glass screen protector. Once I added one to her iPad, the pen worked great! If you're having issues with skipping and lagging, a glass screen protector may help.

Great budget option
I really like this stylus and works really well with my iPad that is still good from 2017. It doesn’t feel cumbersome to hold, feels great. Charging is just a usb port. The only 2 reasons it’s not getting 5 stars is because 1) sometimes it randomly turns off, but turning it back on is easy just touch the top like a mechanical pencil. 2) the accuracy isn’t super perfect. It’s very close, but I do notice that sometimes lines are a few millimeters off and maybe a bit shaky. Fine for casual use, but I have a feeling that might be mildly annoying to someone who is a higher level artist. I still think it’s very much worth the purchase, especially since the newest ones coming out do not work with the 2017 iPads.

Highly recommend
Great stylus, it’s been years and it’s still it top notch condition. I find it has helped me with my art. It’s taken a fall or two (not high falls, but the occasional “forgot it was in my bed and moved the blanket which sent it to the non-carpeted ground” falls) and it’s never shown any sign of destruction so I’d say it’s pretty durable. The charging speed is pretty good when you consider the long battery life! I recommend this pen!

Mixed results with iPad 5th Gen
Ergonomically, it's fine. It's an attractive design, easy enough to use and not complicated. As a basic stylus, it is nicer to use than a cheap passive stylus, but it's nothing like the functionality you see on a digitizer like a Wacom tablet, or the Apple Pencil. The "active" feature is that you can turn it on and off. It doesn't have pressure levels. It doesn't communicate wit your device over Bluetooth and it doesn't require drivers or software, which is nice, but it also has effectively no functionality beyond being a comfortable generic stylus. We ultimately returned it. The problem we ran into is one of functionality. I tested this in various apps on our 5th gen iPad, including Evernote, OneNote, and Procreate (a digital art creation app). I noticed in Procreate especially that the strokes had distinct segments to them, presumably from a slow sampling of the stylus. If I used my finger to draw a curve there was no connect-the-dots segementation. I don't know if this is due to the stylus or the iPad or both, but either way it's hard to justify $45+ for this level of functionality in our situation. Your mileage may vary. I'd recommend it as a comfortable stylus if you don't mind spending nearly half a hundred dollars on it.

Works on IPad 5th Generation out of the box!!!
This pen was great out of the box for my IPad 5th Gen. I initial purchased the Apple Pen 1st Gen and it did not work. After some research I found out that the Apple Pen 1st and 2nd Gen does not work on older model IPads. This was disheartening however I decided to keep the Apple Pen to go with the future purchase of and IPad Air or Pro model. This still left me with an IPad 5th Gen that I could not use with a pen. After some continued research on Amazon I cam across this Stylus Pen. I was concerned that I might get another "Rock" (reference, Charlie Brown, Halloween Special), however at the price of this pen I was willing to take a risk, besides it had some pretty good reviews from other purchasers. The pen came within a day, even though the estimated arrival was two days. I was surprised and so I tore into the packaging, crab my IPad 5th Gen, press the tip as instructed and it worked perfectly. I open Procreate and began to use the pen with much ease. The pen was very responsive and even light touches produced results. resting my palm on the screen did not affect the pens ability to produce, as long as the pen touch the screen first. A palm-muting glove will solve this minor issue. I used Procreate and the pen responded nicely to ever brush I select and I selected over 80% of the brushes offered by the software. I am very pleased with the pen and since its design is much like the Apple Pen 2nd Gen it will help me to become accustom to that pen once I purchase it in the future. I am sure that some more professional artist may differ in opinion and frankly I cant begin to perdict what the future will bring with this pen. However, I can state with absolute assurance that this pen worked for me out of the box with no concerns what's so ever. And because of that and the other comment made above it has earned 5 stars from me. Thanks for reading my humble comments. John P., Maryland

Turns off too frequently
Nice feel and sensitivity but pen WILL NOT STAY ON. Even with constant use, it turns off every minute or so. Very annoying!

This is an excellent and basic alternative to the cheap stylus for my 5th Gen Ipad. I would not consider this an alternative to the branded pencil, you do not get the benefits of angles or push sensitivity like you would on the branded pencil, you are also not able to touch the screen or rest your hand while drawing. if you are a serious artist who wants the full effects of the branded version you will simply have to upgrade your ipad. I use this pencil for simple artwork/drawings/writing/tracing etc mostly in ProCreate. The reason for purchasing this pen was because i am not serious enough in my art to upgrade my ipad, but the cheap squishy ended stylus i had was no better than using my finger. I make both art and branded content with the stylus. Pros: - Easy to use - Looks and feels great - USBC Charge - Most modern stylus for older ipad - Significantly more precise than the cheap squishy tipped stylus Cons: - The calibration is just slightly off but it is consistent so it is easy enough to get used to - Should use with glass screen protector for caution - The on/off setting is too easy (ex. I have made a case for this pencil as you can see in the video i do have to be very careful when removing and inserting the stylus as to not touch the on/off switch. some material is reactive with the 'button' i had to make the case with a thick top layer to protect it from turning on in my bag etc) Overall id highly recommend this product if you are not too serious about the extra features that come with the branded version and need something compatible with your 5th Gen Ipad. The stylus was exactly what I needed, I have been using it for 8 months now and still loving it.

Quite expensive but it's good for less than half the price of the official pencil it's good. It doesn't have pressure sensitivity but this is the only one I could find compatible with gen 5

Stylus was faulty. Did not write on my gen 5 iPad, despite claims of compatibility. Have requested a replacement. No result yet.
