Viante CUC-15SM Electric Hot-Soup Maker with Digital Preset Timer

The product that I purchased in December (a month ago) has already broken. I called Viante Home Product Company(845-357-0315). Then it went to a voice mail and I left a message 3days ago. But no one reply yet. Any time I called them, it went to message.

Got the Hot-Soup maker. Was really excited about it despite the other somewhat negative reviews. Looked to be a good product. But, as with the other reviews the instructions are horrible and very difficult to understand. the first time I tried to use it. It kept shutting off within 5 minutes of starting it. I tried to decipher the instructions but nothing work. Next I tried manual and within a few minutes it started beeping incessantly. no matter what buttons I pushed the only way to stop the beeping was too unplug it. Looks to be of good construction and easy to handle and attach and detach from base. But, again the controls don't seem to work like they should and the instructions are not clear at all.

I purchased this item from another vendor (as it was not available on Amazon at the time) and was looking forward to what I thought would be an easier way of making homemade soups: not being chained to a hot stove.The appliance is extremely noisy (especially on the faster stirring speeds) and as mentioned by other reviewers, the instructions are next to useless. Of the 3 included recipes, I have only tried one; the Hearty Beef-Vegetable Chowder. I can't complain about the quality of this recipe - it turned out a very good soup! The recipe is almost exactly the same as my own, but this soup surpasses mine.As for the chopping issue, I am not clear whether it would actually chop veggies - there are two chopping blades included, however only one actually is a "blade".If the directions were better, the "chop" function did what we believe it should do, and some decent recipes were included, I think this would be a nice addition to a kitchen for serious soup makers. For the person looking to make just an occasional batch of homemade soup, and until the cons are worked out, this is a waste of money.I gave it 3 stars because when used correctly with a good recipe, it does its job well.

I bought this product wondering how it worked? seems like a great idea!! It is a sound solid looking cooking device, heavy duty stainless steel. But, Instructions are very hard to read (the makers of this product did not use, um well, a person that understands english very well. lol.you wont understand the terms they use. chopping seems to mean mixing they tell you to chop all through out cooking .sometimes im sure they mean mix. Also many obvious spelling errors. very bad instructions! They only offer 3 recipes, the 3 recipes call for already chopped veggies????? thought the focus of this product was NOT to chop your own ???? one of the 3 recipes also calls for can of mushroom soup!!!not very origanal. It is a nice looking soup maker just wish instructions were more user freindly!you would think they would give you recipes to explore and how to use this cooker.

As all of the other reviews have said, the instructions for this machine are terrible. I bought it for my wife for Christmas. We just spent the last hour trying to understand what to do to get it working for the first time. I'm here looking at reviews because I hoped that there might be some clues to get us going. The cooker isn't even listed on the [...] web site any more. I'm asking both here, and on the manufacturer's web site that they post an instructional video on howto get this machine unpacked, assembled, and cooking for the first time. If you're thinking of buying it, search [...] for an instructional video.In short, the maker looks like it is quality made, but this highly technical and mechanical reviewer can't decipher the terrible instructions.

This is still decorating my cupboard as I have not had time to figure out how it works with just raw veggies. Instructions are lacking in clarity but the unit is well made!

Yeah, Joe--lol, on the instructions. How about the "explosive diagram"? And I was hoping that explosions would not be a part of the hot soup maker experience.

As not to waste time and space I would simply like to underline the comments of the previous reviewer. PROS: well constructed, attractive appliance and on the CONS: first, the manufacturer needs to URGENTLY reissue the instructions and secondly, it was a great letdown to read in 2 of the 3 recipes in the box that condensed soup was the basic ingredient. It misses the point. I did not need a soupmaker for that.
