Vermeer. The Complete Works

I bought this as a present for my Mum who loves Vermeer. It looks beautiful.

This is a the ultimate book on Vermeer with careful prints that mostly do the originals justice. Martha and Mary is large scale for Vermeer and not as good as in the book and the pearl necklace does not do the actual astonishing painting justice. Generally it is a very must reference if you appreciate Vermeer which will be enjoyed irrespective of the size of the book.

A brilliant Christmas present, wonderfully written with superb images of Vermeer's paintings; the personal and artistic context of each one fully explained in a relaxed, informal style. Perfect for the everyday, interested reader.

This is amazing value for money. The quality of the book, paper and reproduction of the paintings is all first class. Very comprehensive account of all Vermeer's paintings and life; also includes paintings and accounts of painters from the same era. I especially liked the close-ups of details of Vermeer's works - marvellous

This is an excellent hardback edition. The colour plates, information and paper quality are of the highest order. This is, I think, the finest book on Vermeer you will find.

Both the photos of the paintings and the accompanying descriptions are excellent.

This is a big and beautiful book. The quality of the reproductions is very good and the pages are thick and strong. I have just began to read the book. The text is interesting but I think it goes a bit too deep into the history of the family etc. And for some reason the font size is very small.

If you’re into Vermeer and don’t own this book...you’re seriously missing out. Completely up to date in terms of research and the reproduction of the paintings are the best they’ve ever been or likely to be.
