The Death of Superman

Only a so-so story, for at the hoopla at the time of it's original publication; big monster shows up and he and Superman fight to the death and.....that's it.The follow up volume, World Without Superman, is interesting as it explores the shock, chaos and fear that followed Superman's 'death', and Return of Superman is perhaps the best Superman story of the post-Crisis era...maybe ever.Unfortunately, this story set the template for the 'comic book death' and turned the Great Beyond as little more than a place superheroes go when they want a nice rest before picking up where they left off.

this is a classic hero scenario, the world is threatened and the hero disregards his own live for the sake of others.often superman isn't taken seriously because he's seen as too good but I disagree. it's superman's determination to do what's right which makes you root for him, even as he has the **** beaten out of him.many people will say it takes too long to get going but if you want to read the final, awesome battle between to comic titans then it is worth the build up.I would definitely recommend this

Nothing to say about this one, must have for any superman fan, great and emotional history, it reminds me of Star Trek 2 the wrath of Khan, the sacrifice of 1 to save many, and the lost of a character that we loved through out the years. Overall 9 out 10.
