It didn't work.
It does not work. It gave NO indication my cat was ill and luckily I caught him straining and tested the urine for pH level myself and sure enough this litter, IF IT WORKED, should have indicated the change in his urine. Very disappointed and what a WASTE of money!

Clumps good but no Color change
This litter did not change color at all, acted like any old cheap clay cat litter from the grocery store. Was extremely dusty. Most importantly I was hoping to be able to tell if my recently adopted from shelter cat had either a behavior problem or a medical problem. Waste of time and money.

Good idea but needs to be tweaked
After using the product for a while, I contacted the manufacturer and they sent me high and low PH testers. There are small flakes added to the mixture that will turn bright red if hi PH liquid is introduced. The low PH indication didn't seem to work. Besides, there are blueish particulates in the litter that would confuse you anyway. My concern is High PH and for that, the product does work. The litter itself seems to be natural, effective, non-dusty and has no heavy perfumes which some cats don't like.Bottom line is that they need to:A) Add more of the active flakesB) Check why the low PH is not activatingC) Reword their pretty packaging to indicate that it's the "flakes" that will turn color and not the entire litterThe company has a good idea but needs to listen to customers and improve it.

Canadian Clumping Litter claims their product helps measure PH in Cat litter. Buy litmus strips at farming stores instead.
My cat has been having some issues with bladder infections(we think that's what it is). So my Vet suggested using litmus strips like the ones used to test the ph in soil. My wife found this product instead and we decided we'd give it a try. It didn't change colors until I dumped a urine saturated clump into a container of tap water - bright pink. Later on I checked the litter hoping maybe I tested an inert portion of the litter. Her ph appears to be normal ( in the correct lighting) soft white incandescent bulbs made traces of the color change BARELY VISIBLE. Vanity bulbs in the bathroom and the litter looks the same. Apparently it sort of works but I'm gonna buy some strips from the local tractor parts store to try.I noticed on some other sites this product has gotten bad reviews. One couple tried adding vinegar to it and observed no change. So it's really just extremely dusty litter that clumps well. The company that sells this stuff must be happy they can con people out of their money, EH?

It does work, esp on the high ph/alkaline end
I have four house cats. I decided to try this out in one of my litter boxes. Product clumps well, but it seemed to be a little bit hard to see exactly what color the clumps were. "Normal" urine's light green/yellow tint flecks kind of blend in, so I wasn't sure if I'd even really notice a color change/problem... until yesterday, when one of my cats that normally uses a different box (and has a history of UTIs), finally went in the box with the LifeMate litter. I thus discovered the bright pink/purple flecks which indicate high ph (alkaline) urine are VERY noticeable... I wouldn't have realized that kitty was having trouble again, if it weren't for the LifeMate litter.
