I am a big fan of this musical hippo. I bought my first summer infant musical toy roughly four years ago for my son (he had the green elephant), so when we had our second child, I knew I'd be purchasing another one of these because they work so well.Pros:*Several different songs, many of which are actually calming.*Three different light color options and a fourth option in which it cycles through all three colors.*The light transition from red, to green, to blue is nice and slow, which is soothing for babies and young children.*Cute looking toy, which appeals to young kids*Timer for music, so it can eventually shut off after they fall asleep (15, 30, and 45 minute options).*Different volumes for sound levels.Cons:Needs one more volume option, which should be even softer than it offers at its lowest setting. I'm fairly sensitive to sound, so this could be softer, in my opinion. Only current way to muffle it a bit more is by putting a blanket on it, but then you can't use the lights...so completely up to you all. My 3 month old is mesmerized by the lights! I bought it hoping she enjoy looking at the projected stars on the ceiling, and she does! The music is nice also. She also likes nibbling on any part she can get near her mouth. Very entertaining for a baby!
