Defective WIFI, AP WIFI connection failed
I had big hopes for this dash cam, after reading so many good reviews about it. I started today the install, but could not get WIFI hotspot to work. Comes up with a message AP WIFI connection failed. I tried everything; including hard reset, checked all settings, spend 2 hours in frustration with it. just could not fix it. I researched the forums, and unfortunately it seems to be a well known problem since 2018/2019 with some of the users. The rest of the camera worked well. The WIFI is a key option to me, so this one problem is a show stopper. I have now send it back, and I buy a different camera. I bought an 70mai for my other car a few weeks ago, and that one works perfect; so I will get likely the same one again.

Seems like a good " value ".. installed myself, using for a week now.. Id likely buy it again..
Will be interesting to see how long it " lives "... Id consider this to be a higher than average risk purchase. I gave it 4 stars, mostly because I dont think I have the back ground to know what a 5 star dash cam is.I bought this, because I moved recently, and the area I live in now, the motorists are " possessed ". going to work, is more like the game of " frogger " than commuting....About the only thing I did not understand when I bought it, was that with the back camera " turned on ", you surrender half of your " frames per second ", I think with both turned on, you record at 30FPS, with just the front running, it records at 60FPS. This is not a deal killer, it makes sense from an engineering standpoint, keeping in mind, this is a more entry level product, not top of the line. FPS, impacts the quality of the image, and at the end of the day, it likely does not matter.Otherwise, installation was simple and straight forward. Im handy, so I didnt really need instructions for any of it, and the instructions are, well,.... they could use some work. I did refer to them, for making the " settings ", and had to go on youtube to figure that all out. This is my first dash cam, and didnt know all that it did.Past that point, it fired up and has worked as advertised, the wifi and a smart phone really make it much easier to use, very nice feature, I would not by another one, that didnt have this feature, now that I have used it.I bought the park kit, I dont think I knew, that the parking kit came with a voltage adjustable cut off in it, so if your leave it one, and dont use your car for several days, you can pick a voltage from like 11.8 to 12.4 to shut the camera off if your voltage drops to that point from draw. Nice feature. One recommendation, if your installing it yourself, if you plan to use " fuse taps ", think about buying them at the same time, I went to O'reillys and paid $7 a piece. You can get 10 here for about the same $,..

The best dashcam for Rideshare driving day or night
HI everyone, I’m writing this review because i honestly think it deserves one due to its role in my job. I’m a South California rideshare driver, a job that requires lots of time driving around the city for hours in ever-changing environments. From the start I knew that i needing some form of security against fraud, not only in traffic situations but with customers as well. After intense research on dashcams I decided to go with a dual dash cam that is capable of being hidden behind the rear-view mirror , 1080p video, high quality voice recorder and easy access to recorded videos at a reasonable price. To say the least, this is a very hard combination to find. That is until I found this Viofo A129 dual. I instantly fell in love with it as the company literally worked on every detail of this camera to provide a easy to use, well-rounded, high quality product available to the average driver. I made the purchase on January 22nd of 2018 and received it within two days! I was excited and immediately installed it and played around with the settings. It was awesome to say the least as everything that i was looking for was as promised...high video quality (night recording is superb), voice recording quality, accessibility, etc.If you are planning on buying this camera (highly recommended) I would also suggest to add the following to use it to its full potential-Hardwire kit- after installing it, it becomes a out of sight out of mind situation. I love it.-Either the Viofo micro SD or a Samsung EVO U3 64GB, 64GB is good enough for a 24hr recording before it loops-Bluetooth remote: usually, when you need to record something, it is during times of high stress and this little device makes everything 100 times easier.HIghly recommend for night and day driving for average Joe, Taxi, Rideshare, commercial drivers. Thanks for readingAbout PicturesI posted these picture because I wanted to show how perfectly hidden the front camera can be installed behind the rear-view mirror. Also, the rear camera is well design to not stand out as much. since my purchase, only one person has ever mention the camera and said, "i have the A119". he knew what it was and was impressed.

Too many issues
EDIT- I have had too many issues with this product to feel it is worth a recommendation. I bought and installed the hardwire kit, it powers up most of the time, BUT NOT ALWAYS. Also, I can no longer connect my phone with the wi-fi to access the unit. END EDIT It was after an accident in which the at fault party denied and fought our claim, that I decided to purchase and install a dash cam. I searched for something I could count on and purchased this one. Very intuitive, easy to assemble, and (depending on your vehicle) install. The one thing I haven't quite figured out yet is it doesn't always power up with the ignition, and I believe it is due to the quick release connection between the camera and the permanent windshield mount. I did experience issues with my door locks after installing this, but soon learned the rear defrost in my car has multiple functions, including the antennae for my door locks. I just give my camera a moment to power down before locking my car, and no more issues. I will try electrical contact cleaner on the quick release contacts, then I will have to verify they have proper clearance to work. I do recommend everyone get a dash cam, best peace of mind I could hope for given the state of mind on today's roads.

Still going strong after 2 years in FL heat
Installed this in my 2010 Prius two years ago in Nov 2019 with help from YouTube (especially the fearless dude MorePi in his video How to Hardwire Front/Back Dashcams in a Gen 2 Prius). Bought it for $190 - $42 = $148 on a lightning deal. Added two glare filters for $15 (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01N0KVD4C), installed a 128GB SanDisk Extreme Plus card (https://www.amazon.com/SanDisk-Extreme-Plus-128-microSDXC/dp/B07HMJV355), and hooked it all up using the Viofo 3-Wire HK3 Hardwire Kit (https://www.amazon.com/Viofo-3-Wire-Hardwire-Camera-Profile/dp/B07L1CD9Q4).Unit has performed well in FL heat with no issues. As others have said, most of the time 1080 is just not good enough resolution to read license plate numbers even in the best conditions, and this is true regardless of which dashcam you buy, so there's no point in taking stars off for that. The video quality is otherwise very good in my opinion, the on-board WiFi and companion app are serviceable (if a bit slow sometimes), and the firmware is upgradeable for bug fixes and new features. The VIOFO support site is a bit light on valuable content, but sites like dashcamtalk have active communities to help troubleshoot problems. I have never had a problem with parking mode draining my battery (thanks to the hardwire kit). Once 4K dashcams come down in price some more I would definitely consider VIOFO's offerings to upgrade.

rear camera cable too short for SUV
After extensive research i purchased two of these cameras, one for my 2016 Toyota Highlander SUV and one for my husbands 2014 Toyota Tacoma pick up truck. After watching several Youtube videos regarding installation we decided to have the one for the Highlander SUV professionally installed. one of the Youtube videos mentioned that rear camera cable may not be long enough for a large SUV but comments for this item indicated by someone with a 2018 Toyota Highlander that it was sufficient. i have a hatchback with a rear window that lifts up. after installation, prior to paying the bill the technician assured me that I would be able to open the rear window with enough slack not to have any problems. WRONG. The cable to the rear camera ripped out of the camera and they couldn't repair it. luckily I brought the second camera set up and they used the cable from that one. The cable wasn't long enough to attach to the rear window so they mounted it on the headliner which worked out OK. I then had to order an additional cable so that we could install the second camera. Had I known that there was a longer cable (8MM) I would have so if you have an SUV order the longer cable. i appreciate that there was a manual included although I found more and beneficial again from Youtube videos. The menu options could have been a little more detailed. I was having a problem not being able to access the menu on the camera. I contacted Amazon support which was a joke. They don't even deal with one customer at a time and had no clue. Additional research again resolved my problem. There ae two ways to access the menu and settings. The first way is on the camera and you MUST not have the wifi on. The second way is to access it on your mobile device with wifi on. I paid $169.99 for these cameras and today when I go online to write this review it is $144. No happy about that.
