is this plastic wrap microwavable?

It microwaves just fine. It does not melt. This is great wrap. I’m just very upset at the price increase. That is outrageous 🙁

What is the thickness of the wrap material?

That’s my only complaint about this wrap. It’s not thick enough fir me, but it does do a good job on sealing foods tight. I order it. But, I am going to search for something a bit more thicker.

why can't I buy a refill for the clear wrap without ordering something for twenty five dollars

A single 250' roll is available via Amazon Prime for $7.49 as an add-on item. I recently bought two of those at one time. ($14.98) Okay... I re-read your question. Yes it is an add-on item. Surely there is something else that you want or you might be able to buy it alone and pay shipping?
