Q: Does the pump have an on/off switch or do you have to connect/disconnect it from the battery?

The pump does not have an on/off switch. We have it on a timer connected through the computer software.

Q: After looking through Amazon and not finding a large aerator, am I missing a product? I have a 5,000 gallon water tank and need emergency aeration.

Nothing larger that I saw....this runs dual stones and 3 could likely keep fish healthy in a power outage...real low battery draw...I ran one for 3 months in 100 gallon minnow tank and only lost 4 out 250 minnows...the stones are small so you might want to get some bigger ones....in an emergency I like oxygen tanks as backup...keeps large quantities of bait very healthy

Q: Does it use 1/4" lines? Can it use other brand line and stones?

No it has 2 outlets one is 1/4 other is not almost impossible to find replacement for second outlet!!!

Q: how loud is this pump?

I think it is fairly quiet. I am real satisfied. I used a cooler for a tank while we were camping, & a 27 size battery with 1 dead cell.ran 3 days ,& still running strong. I ran it using both bubblers in the cooler. I did change 1/2 of the water 2-3 times a day, because it was hot!! Great pump.
