Brilliant for newborn interaction
This book is amazing for newborns. When my son arrived 10 years ago I had completely forgotten about things to keep him entertained and a friend bought us a copy of this. My son "read" it from day one. It was amazing to watch his eyes scan over the images and make sense. He particularly liked the butterfly. I have since bought it for each of my friends as newborn gifts and they have all commented on how amazed they were that their babies "read" the book. These are newborn books as babies see very differently for the first few months and need this high contrast. reading some of the poor reviews given below I think they have probably been bought for older babies and therefore are not suitable at all.

Lame.
I dislike childrens books which seen to have no thought put into them, and aside from being high contrast to appeal to infants I could not perceive anything "considered" about this book. Compared with high-contrast mobiles I purchased which had interesting shapes and faces on them, this book just seems lame. The shapes are not thematically related in any way. Many of them are simplistic and unappealing. I would have preferred more symmetrical and complex images like the butterfly, which my son liked best, instead of the pathetic attempts at household objects, such as the odd looking silouhette of keys.

Bit of a happy accident
Brought by mistake as my 4 year old loves asking for micheal Jackson's black or white on the echo and one day this turned up. Luckily we have a baby and she appears to love it.

It's hard to chew it!
Our LO loves it! Really handy first book. She's now 8months old and still enjoying reading it.

Excellent book for 6-12 month olds
This is an excellent series of books. They show high-contrast images of common-place products that a baby encounters. Bottle, apple, banana etc. One book as 12 photos. Its worth its money, as the baby remains engrossed in these books for weeks.
