I am not sure I deserve a tube of watercolors of this quality and with such a wonderful pigment. But it's not about merit, fortunately, so I am a happy customer 😉

Ce bleu est excellent seul et en mélange. J'aime l'associer au turquoise. Je l'utilise aussi pour des ciels juste en éclaircie dans des gris.

私は水彩画を自己流の趣味でやっているだけです。その点から言って、Daniel Smithの水彩絵の具はどれも高価で入手しにくく、絵を描くだけなら日本のホルベインでもクサカベでも十分役に立つと思います。が、特定の絵の具だけは、やはりDaniel Smithでないと、というものもあります。その一つが、これです。これは色を楽しむというより、質感を楽しむ絵の具です。ラピスラズリという、古代から珍重された宝石の粉末が、この絵の具には入っています。目の覚めるような青ではなく、灰青色といって良い色です。が、フェルメールが愛した青ですし、あちらは油彩、こちらは水彩の違いはあっても、持っていることに一種の満足感があります。鉱物由来ですから、日本画の顔料に通じるものがありますね。一度使ってみてください。その質感、色味に惹かれると思います。色に不満がある場合は、ウルトラマリン系の絵の具と合わせるとよりフェルメールに近くなるかな。「宝石入りの絵」だという密かな楽しみが持てますよ。

Daniel Smith paints are the best that I've used. Unfortunately, this color is disappointing. It doesn't cover well and is very thin. For the right scenario, this can work (i.e. light sky, water reflection), but it's not a blue you'll use much, IMO.

As a professional painter that uses practically ONLY Daniel Smith watercolors, this is a color I always wanted to try. Familiar with the lovely color of real Lapus, I was expecting the same in this paint. Unfortunately it’s more a dull blue color. It granulates well on the paper however it’s a tad greasy. I was disappointed and am not planning on using it. That’s unfortunate for the cost....
