Not Bad!
Tested with 2003 Honda XR80R dirt bike:Short Story, these studs work excellent at low speeds, (up to about 30mph)GREAT for Glaze ice and hard-packed snow.easy to install and replace missing studsIf used with loctite (or similar product) it becomes very difficult to rip the studs out while riding (but it can happen!)Order this 1000 pack and it comes with a free Kold Kutter Ice Racing sticker, which i thought was cool.Contrary to popular belief, these studs will NOT push in, even when smashed around, (like off a jump)Longer screws come with bigger headsDirt, gravel, etc. will grind these studs to nothing fairly quickly.once you rip out a stud or unscrew it, DO NOT put another screw in it's place, Move your next screw over a little bit, to some fresh rubber. Otherwise you'll be adding more after the next ride.Ground down studs will still hold enough grip to get you to where you need to be... but it is always better to put fresh studs in. (it's also ALOT easier to remove the stud with a little bit of head left too...)think of these as disposables, when the winter season is over, just unscrew the studs and you're ready for spring/summer! the tire is probably going to last the rest of the year (or longer) if you didnt go stock.I bought these because i had to use a dirt bike all winter to get to-from work. I found myself falling on my arse every other day just getting to the bike, but i have never had a tire slip while i was riding. You can actually get away with quite a bit on these little suckers once you're comfortable with them. All in all, For $50 it was an excellent buy. Kept me from walking to work, and got to have some winter fun on the side!-Jones

Surprisingly effective
I didn't have high expectations for these but they transformed the ability of my tires to grip on ice. I am running a late 80s suzuki samurai with 33" tires on the ice roads near my village in Kasigluk (western Alaska). These don't help for snow that I could tell, but they're great for when things warm up and the lake and river ice has standing water on top. This happens a few times every year but this year was particularly warm (warm = bad for travel). One tip is that the dimensions named include the head of the screw. I bought the 3/8" screw but wish I had bought longer, like 1/2" or 5/8". I knew that the shorter screws come out more often but was afraid of puncturing the tire. I'll probably keep using these in the center of the tread and buy a slightly longer pack of screws for the outside edges where the lugs are larger. You drill them in yourself. But I found a power drill to be too difficult because I could never get it started with the drill, the screw would just fall to the floor before I got it into the tire. I ended up using a good pair of pliers and just hand twisting them in, and that worked really well, like 10 seconds or less per screw. I picked a basic pattern and applied it the same way around all 4 tires. I have had no problems, and after nearly 100 miles of driving the last couple months I only have lost about 10-15% of them. Note that I haven't gone over about 35 mph and higher speeds would probably fling more of them out.

Buy longer if possible
I used about 120 per tire on my 4x4 atv, the stock tires i have don't have much tread depth so i had to get the 3/8: length screws. These things have amazing grip on ice, almost as if you are on hard packed dirt, also excellent grip going over logs and frozen dirt. The first ride I lost about 15-20 in each rear tire and maybe 5 in the fronts, second ride wich had some rocks poking through the snow and a bunch log logs to go over i lost almost all of them from the rear (maybe 5 remainign in each), but somehow only lost about 20 from each front tire. Basicly i think the lesson here is that these things work great but 3/8 inch of thread is just not enough to hold them in.

To small
Lost most on the first day out on the ice. Wanted these for my old set of tires so I got the smaller ones. Bad idea

amazing product
Really Hook up on the ice, I don't have the insert for the inside of the tire. I super glued them right into the lug and I have yet to loose one.
