Delivered as promised
I love the added battery life afforded by the "clam shell" extra battery - I get easily a full day of unfettered use.I am frustrated with the stylus. I replaced my old Lenovo X201 when the hinge began to fail. I had trouble free use of the stylus (a Wacom product) with my X201. With the X230, I have had continued problems with calibration (poor at best despite numerous re-calibrations and updating driver). Additionally, the stylus will simply "stop working" and so far, the only recourse I have found is to re-start the computer. While it is functional, and a bit faster than my x201, I long for the days of reliable stylus use - essential to my every day work.

The real deal.. a laptop with tablet functionality
We purchased three of these after having been disappointed with the s230u's lack of stylus support. these units are being used by our service managers to conduct site inspections and it's great to be able to capture a signature electronically (note the x230 does not do this without additional software (see [...]). These units feel better built than the s230u. Also note we purchased these with Windows 7 since Windows 8 was conflicting with some of our apps.

Buy a kindle instead
I have owned several computers and, 7 months ago, bought this one to vpn into my work computer. Anything more powerful than a kindle should work for this. however, the lenovo has been problematic the entire time, so it has not been used it much. First, the mouse navigation would freeze up and only the keyboard would work. I was able to fix that problem after a while, but the constant rebooting makes it impossible to use. Total waste of money. I will never buy lenovo again!

It uses the swivel hinge instead of the flip around design like were seeing from both Dell and ThinkPad
If you looking at this computer you must be a power user or a ThinkPad owner already. This is the once famed ThinkPad x230 Tablet with the outdoor display touch and digitizer HD screen with a Non glare finish. It uses the swivel hinge instead of the flip around design like were seeing from both Dell and ThinkPad. The screen twists around 180 degrees then folds down over the keyboard. It’s a classic original ThinkPad design and is made to be carried in the crook of your arm like you would carry a normal clip board. The digitizer is stored on board, it’s a Wacom single button precision stylus and works very well for marking up PDF files, gathering signatures, and or photo editing in Lightroom.ConstructionIt’s a rugged outdoor type device a bit heavy and not like its tiny fragile counter parts. It’s made to be used on the go without much worry. It offers a magnesium interior casing covered in ABS plastic with a strong swivel hinge. It takes two hands to open the laptop from clam shell. If your expecting thin and light, this isn’t for you coming in at over 3 lbs with the 6 cell battery.Battery lifeThinkpad / Lenovo still offers a few battery options for this device the 4 cell battery, 6 cell, and 9 cell slice battery that snaps onto the bottom. I have never used the 4 cell but I have both the 6 and 9 cells you can easily go all day 9 hours with the 6 cell battery if your not watching movies and streaming music. I have gone up to 15 hours of heavy use with the 9 cell battery. This unit comes with the 6 cell and amazon does offer its bigger brother if battery life is an issue for you.Inside and PerformanceInside of This version is Intel’s dual core I 5 v pro with IVY bridge, four Gigs of Ram and a 500GB sata disk drive. The unit is upgradeable to SSD drives 7mm think only and dual channel 16 GB of ram at 1600 megahertz DDR3. Out of the box the windows index is 4.9. the graphics card is Intel 4000 with push to tv WIDI if you want a wireless connection to your big screen for movies or a monitor for desktop like functions. It has enhanced Bluetooth data exchange after driver updates with Shareit onboard. And WIFI 802.11 G/B/N all from an antenna mounted on the top right of the screen for extended range. Think vantage software lets you know when your out and about where WIFI hot spots are. Setting in the back of the store a good piece away is no issue with this laptops extended range capabilities. The machine also as full disc data encryption with biometrics fingerprint scanner built into the lower right of the screen. I must add you can write and insert items anywhere on the screen using the stylus.ConsThe weight is the biggest con it does get a bit heavy after carrying it around for a while. Two point touch only makes it incompatible with some functions of windows 8.1 if you choose to upgrade from its windows 7 professional SP1 software pack it does work with windows 8.1 however.Missing the back lit keyboard on some other models but it’s very easy to upgrade to it.Over allBuy it while you can if you need a rugged fast dependable notebook with lots of upgrade options. Thinkpad/ Lenovo does not build this machine any longer, this is the last of the upgradeable super notebooks at an amazing price. This unit new in 2013/ 2014 was well over $1000

Price per performance is highest score, This tablet with Core i5 3320 4GB RAM and 500 GB HDD can easily upgrade with 8GB RAM and 500 GB SSD from Amazon's low price and yet still attractive in feature and performance, instead of Lenovo stop selling this item and introduce new series X240 with unreasonable price.

Overall very decent
We use these regularly for healthcare industry clientele. Quick, powerful, and no Windows 8. Sturdy and a very nice touchscreen.Unfortunately, Lenovo does NOT manufacture 9- or 12-cell batteries for these, so if you're unable to charge every 3-4 hours, you'll want to disable one core and hyper-thread in the system BIOS and use the ThinkVantage Power Manager to dim the display and operate in maximum battery mode. We've had better experiences using a 6-cell 'slice' battery alongside the included 6-cell. Still, you'll want to count on only about 5 hours maximum of regular use between charges.
