I have a game room that includes pinball machines. Part of the hobby can sometimes mean to add modifications to the machines. I used this model for a couple of such modifications. Most people are unaware that these days pinball machine makers sell different versions of the same machine with different features. I just bought a Cactus Canyon Special Edition machine. It lacks several features that the much more expensive Limited Edition machine has so I bought this Walthers model. Thinking outside the box, I threw the models instructions out, cannibalized and combined the parts to make a mine cart and train depot for my machine. A little creative painting – which you would do with the model anyway – and I had my mods. I did other mods as well, but you see from the pictures what I ended up with by combining parts from this model in ways other than intended. The model was actually too small for my purposes, but a little judicious cutting and gluing solved that. And trust me, they look a heck of a lot better in person while playing the game, but still I intend modifying the cart so the rivets and gold aren't just painted on. Fun! (Oh, and the trim on the mine cart is actually made from coffee stir sticks.) ;)
