Adorable little eggs in a carton – no batteries required
I picked up this set to use in an Easter Egg hunt for my one year old granddaughter. I placed the eggs inside larger plastic eggs and set the carton part of the toy in her basket. She had loads of fun “finding” the eggs (which I placed pretty much in plain sight!) and opening them to find the Tomy Eggs. She then had fun placing the eggs in the container. The carton looks like the container you buy eggs in at the grocery. It's yellow and has a stiff latch. I worked the latch until it was more easily pliable but at her age, she is keeping it open most of the time. There are six eggs. They each fit into a unique spot in the carton as there is a shape on the bottom of the egg which matches a shape on the appropriate spot in the carton. Each of the eggs open by taking off the top part of the egg. They all “chirp” when you push down on the colorful part of the egg once the top is removed. The inside part of the egg has a unique color that matches the removable top of the egg. The tops all fit on every egg, so a child can mix and match them.I like the toy for sheer play value – its cute and a young toddler can easily make the eggs “chirp”. I really appreciate that it is a toy that does not require batteries (the chirps are made by a whistle action that happens when you push down on the top.) I also like it for its educational value – colors and shapes. My granddaughter is loving it and her brother, who is 3.5 years old is also having fun with it – teaching his sister all about colors.

Far superior to Kangaroo
So I saw these as my niece's house and thought they were really cute and versatile toys and so I ordered them for my toddler for Easter. I noticed there were two brands, but it seemed Tomy, despite being cheaper, had better reviews (I noticed several people noting that the Kangaroo eggs don't squeak). So I ordered Tomy.I didn't open the package immediately because I wanted to put the eggs into larger Easter eggs for my son to hunt but then when I finally got it out I was disappointed to find that the carton was really really difficult to open. Then when I finally opened it, the eggs didn't squeak. I was pretty annoyed, but the non-squeaking eggs rang a bell, I actually looked at the carton and realized that it was branded Kangaroo. I had been sent the wrong brand and hadn't noticed. I immediately emailed amazon explaining my situation and they refunded me without requiring that I return the Kangaroo set. So, two days later I got an actual Tomy set and got to compare them.Tomy is exactly what I expected. The carton opens easily, the eggs do what they're supposed to etc etc. Kangaroo at first glance is almost exactly the same, until you start interacting with it: it is difficult to open, the inside of the carton had weird black marks, the eggs are an off white colour (which does make them easy to differentiate from Tomy, or you could just see if they squeak), and they barely squeak at all, maybe faintly every 4-5 presses. Both my toddler and baby definitely can tell the difference. Neither of them want to play with the kangaroo eggs, in less than three days they have both come to strongly prefer Tomy and figured out ways to figure out which eggs are which, and then try to offload the Kangaroo onto the other sibling.Don't waste your time on Kangaroo. Order Tomy, and if you get sent the wrong item, get in touch with Amazon so that you can get the right one.

Great!
This is an early Easter gift to my 7 month old son and he LOVES them! I figured with his age he would be too young but nope. He loves to dump out the eggs and pick up and teeth on the shells and rolling them around. He gives the biggest grin when he spots these and even goes for them during tummy time. He loves to knock the shells off the egg by banging them which is really easy to do. The eggs are super cute also and it's helping his dexterity and coordination to pick the egg up which is harder then the shell but he has done it a few times already. He loves for me to push down on the chicks to hear them peep. I love the mechanism in how it peeps by pushing against the screw inside. It's a very solid toy and looks safe. I have had fun playing with then also. They all have different ccolos and the shell has a face with cute facial emotions on every shell and there emotions colors match the egg color. It's also a shape sorter. It's great for matching, learning emotions and shape sorting and dumping out. Ohhh and of course teething and learning colors. This is definitely a toy that will grow with him as toddler and the price is great. My baby loves these during tummy time chasing the eggs on the floor. If you have a younger baby around 6 months all the way into toddler/small children stages they wilk love these adorable eggs. They are great year round. Anything that makes my baby happy makes me happy and these are fun to play with. The chicks are inside the top shell but the chicks aren't removable from the bottom shell, they are made into the bottom shell. These are super cute and definitely woth the $10 cost because of the versatility of this toy and it doesn't take up much much, it's a great price. Everyone needs these!. :)
