Easiest and Cheapest
RGM-79 GM GUNPLA HGUC High Grade Gundam 1/144 This is the mass produced RGM-79 unit and is by far the cheapest and easiest model to build, this model has step by step instructions on how to make it, a very simple build and highly recommended for beginners. This model is an ideal build for the pros as well as it is a good unit to practice your painting and lining skills on even weathering and battle damage as it is so cheap and you can let your imagination run wild on this kit. The model itself is an off white/green colour and not the colour shown in the picture on amazon but its not enough to really make the model look bad.a small side note if you are starting out in the modelling world and it is your first time you will need Gundam markers and paints to get some of the features added (such as lining the panels and gun ridges), sand paper or sanding sticks, side cutters, modelling knife , top coat and thinners, and a Gundam eraser or rubbing alcohol.I am not the best Gunpla Builder in the world but here is my finished model so you get a taste of what the model is like but please note i have also panel lined and detailed my model, where as the standard model does not have the lines and detailing, you will need to purchase extras if you want to make your model unique. Great First Time Build.
I have been building Bandai Star Wars figure kits for a while now so I'm well used to the quality and excellent fit of parts offered by their more modern kits, as well as the figures articulation and multiple options for display. I must admit I'm no expert on this side of things, the robotic figures, so i thought i would give this one a try and I'm really quite impressed with it.Simple construction, plenty of simply designed joints with slightly flexible material that allows for good articulation. Press fit parts that actually fit tightly together and molded in basic colour so no need to paint (but I would next time) and a lovely outcome when finished. A few pointers follow below, not critical in nature but just what i found whilst building. There are some seams that would need taking care of on the shins, thighs and ancle shields as they are quite visible where the parts snap together, it is a shame the seam lines could not have followed the molded on panel detail, in that respect the legs would have appeared seamless. The left grip hand seems to be a little weak where the back of the hands connects to the fingers and pops out from time to time so a spot of glue is needed. The plastic also seems very soft and can be easily gouged when removing parts from the sprue even with the finest of model nippers so i would not cut to close to the part, leave some to be sanded off, the gates or attachment ways on to the parts seem far thicker on this kit as the star wars kits. If a mistake is made during construction it is possible to split parts but do it carefully, I broke a locating pin on the waist doing this.I would say there is a need to paint and fill to make this look even better than it does simply out of the box. A great little introduction to Gundam and the like.

Showing its age.
As older kits go (released in 2001, according to the box), this isn’t horrendous, but it definitely shows its age. While the moulded detail is minimal it’s where it needs to be. Articulation is limited, achieving just less than a 90 degree bend at the knee and not much better elsewhere. Accessories are standard, featuring an expressive open left hand, a right trigger finger hand, a small beam gun for said hand, a shield that can be attached to either arm or to the kit’s back (though the connection is loose) and a beam toothpick, er, sword, moulded entirely in white. As far as I recall, the only sticker used is a black rectangle to fill in a section on the chest. The whole thing is just covered in obvious seam lines and the white of the body is, er, not white (it’s light blue).Honestly, how much you enjoy a kit like this will depend on how much you like the GM design (I love it) and whether you’re up for a bit of work to get it looking decent (I’m not).

Above average for it's time and price.
It's cheap, simple, and pretty good. Sticker use is very minimal but the kit also shows age. Joints are dated and seamlines are awful, poseability is not up to modern Gunpla standards, could use an update. Still, low price for the grunt and is a great army builder due to it's quick construction and low missing color apps, looks fine once the seams are removed.
