Halo: Combat Evolved - PC

I seem to say this a lot but yet again another title I waited several years to play and now after finishing it I regret waiting so long. I'm not a Halo/XBox fanboy but what an amazing game. I can honestly see now why this game was such a huge hit. My thoughts; Pros + Great graphics, although dated by today's standards. The Environments are well detailed and character models are still very impressive. + Very clever AI. Enemies will stay right where they are and shoot you if you're in sight. + Vehicles, vehicles, vehicles. Honestly this is what made the game for me. The amount of vehicles which you had access to while playing through the game was perfect. In addition to being fun to drive and use they had amazingly tight controls and physics. Masterfully done on Bungee's part. + Intriguing storyline + Excellent musical score. + Solid gameplay mechanics + Superb voice acting. + 2 weapon maximum limit increased the challenge of the game but in a good way + Using a regenerative force field instead of having to constantly search for health packs was great. Cons - Enemies are a bit repetitive and with little variation throughout the game. - Ending sequence was sort of a disappointment - A few overly difficult parts - Some of the missions felt a bit too linear. - No way to pull live grenades out of your armor when enemies landed them there. - Grunt enemy voices became terribly annoying very quickly. Not only that but overall they're rather stupid looking. Bungee should be lauded for creating Halo. To get so much right and so little wrong in a FPS is a rarity. If you haven't played it yet, don't wait any longer. Pick up a copy of Halo and enjoy the fun.

This game will not run on Windows 10. I installed it 3 times. Each time it indicated a successful install, but will not play. The game itself is amazing. I used to play it on X-Box. I don't know if it will work with windows 8, but it does not run on Windows 10.

So, any whack job who decided to call this classic piece of work with a 4 or less star rating, let me just say how terrible foolish you are: this game kicks all FPS butt. Why?? 1. Boom Booms (guns), aliens, marines, and totally retarded pistols that have the greatest stopping power. 2. Single player knows a good plot working within the limits of the Xbox, even better for PC players, cause the look is better. 3. Multi-player is a little better because two extra weapons are added: Fuel Rod Gun and Flame thrower. 4. Easy and fun hacks and mod servers that are hilarious. 5. Music is most becoming and fitting. 6. did I mention lip-sinc is actually good, and the sound effects and voices perfect?? 7. Blood and swearing: only two things pop in my head: WWII and Halo. don't miss out: its the best FPS thats actually affordable on the market: It will probably go on as long as Starcraft has been out, so no rush

This is yet another game I bought for my Asus Eee PC1005HAB netbook.Now there are the usual frame rate issues when playing a game (especially FPS) on a netbook and Halo is no exception.That being said the game is still as fun to play as it was the day it was released.If your machine experiences slowdowns when multiple enemies are onscreen there is only one surefire solution to speeding things up.......FRAG 'EM.There was one other issue I experienced while playing and it only occurs in low light areas.If you turn on your flashlight the screen is filled with flashing geometric shapes coming from the upper lefthand side of the screen.I also had this problem when driving the warthog in low light.This is probably just a compatibiity problem with my Asus ( I was prompted that my hardware did not meet the games minimum requirements the first time I played but shrugged the warning off).Last time I played I downloaded the latest patch (v. 1.90 I believe) but have not played it since to see if the issue was resolved.

Halo: Combat Evolved is the first of a long series of Halo games. While all the Halo games are generally fun, there's something about Combat Evolved that I just can't get over. You just, can't beat the classics, I guess. Though the graphics aren't as great as the newer games, Halo CE is the basis for every game in the Halo series, and the storyline of Halo CE just can't be beat. In addition, the multiplayer in Halo CE is phenomenal.I've been especially impressed by the amount of game options and customization that the game offers. If you're deciding between buying Halo for pc vs. Xbox, let me tell you why it's better for pc. For one, there are way more players on pc, and that's not likely to change anytime soon. Two, the graphics are the exact same. And three, pc consoles are generally more common than xboxes. Not to mention extra content on the pc version. I would also debate that the graphics are slightly better, though this is a point of controversy. Anyway, it's a great game. Enjoy!

This came with no product key. So I ended up having to get one separately. When I finally got it installed it just kept locking up in start up screen ... Not sure the problem.... Guess I shouldn't buy used!!!!

A bit tricky on windows 10. You have to download a patch. So far only seems to be keyboard mouse controlled. Researching to see if I can get a controller to work. Edit, I got a controller to work.

¡Un juego del género FPS estupendo! Yo lo jugué desde que era niño y siempre fue una experiencia divertida. Tiene una campaña en solitario un poco monótona pero entretenida, sin embargo el modo multijugador (y sus multiples variantes de juego tanto predeterminadas como personalizadas) fue lo que catapultó al éxito. Nunca fue exigente de las especificaciones de la computadora en la que se ejecuta, a menos que se usen mapas modificados donde una buena combinación CPU y GPU se agradece.
