Winsor & Newton Fine Watercolor Paint Set,Watercolor Paint Tubes,for Artists, Students, Beginners, (Set of 18)

I contacted Winsor & Newton about this Chinese import, they said, "The product of the link seems legit. Winsor & Newton produces for the Chinese market paints with Mandarin in the packaging. It is the same range that we sell in the rest of the world, but adapted to the language of the area. However, it shouldn't be retailed out of China. We will be getting in contact with the Amazon vendor to see why the product is there."After receiving the set I looked at the orange paint which contains the PO 13 pigment, which is a cheap, fugitive pigment benzidine orange only found "bargain/kids/crafter grade paints." These are low quality paints. I can't find any Winsor & Newton watercolor paints that use this pigment. The packaging is almost entirely in Chinese except for the pigments used.

Winsor and Newton is one of the top brands of artist materials in the world. Many professional artists use and recommend W&N paints and watercolors are no exception. The colors are vibrant but not cartoonist. Amazon's price on this set is quite low perhaps because this set is also geared towards the Japanese market. Much of the info that accompanies this set is written in Japanese. Certainly not a detriment in my opinion.

They're not as nice as the Professional set, they aren't meant to be. They were designed for beginners and students. I wanted a reputable set that I could explore watercolor art. I can always replace them with the Professionals as my skills increase. Beautiful colors, easy to mix. These were recommended even for beginners. W&N Cottman is the student version.

I’m a novice, but I wanted good quality watercolors. Winsor Newton has that quality!The caps don’t break, and the tubes are larger, easier to find in my watercolor bag. Worth the price.

I got all the Autumn colors in this set but no sky blues or ocean blues. It’s more of an FYI not that it’s a bad thing. I’m happy with my purchase.
