How are we supposed to know how it would look on us when the model is a man? Men's chests, necks and backs are a lot bigger than women's.

The back of the pattern envelope lists US sizes AND European sizes. I made a blouse from this pattern—very cute! Although the v-neck is a little too low.

So does the pattern legitimately go to size 22 or does it stop at at like eight and tell you to use your imagination like most patterns?

Yes. But it is not the same size 22 as are ready to made clothes. Make sure you look at the actual dimensions of the size. This is one of my favorite patterns for fit.
