I absolutely love the Surya Brasil Henna Cream in Black! It’s a dream come true for anyone who wants beautiful, rich color without exposing their hair to harsh chemicals. My scalp can be sensitive, so finding a product like this has been a blessing. My hair shiny after using it. The fact that it’s free from ammonia, peroxide, and parabens is a huge plus for me.

I used to use henna regularly but got tired of the mess of applying it and how long the process took from beginning to end. I have tried Madison Reed and liked its ease but didn't like how it rinsed out and stained everything for about 4 days after applying it. I thought I would give this a try because it seemed like a good in between of both of these processes.I really liked how easy it was to apply. No mixing or waiting, just open the bottle and apply. I also liked the dark brown it produced that was close to black but definitely wasn't blue-black.I used a shampoo designed to remove all build up, toweled dry and applied when my hair was damp but not too wet. I let it sit on my hair for just over 4 hours. I rinsed and only used conditioner, no shampoo. I had to blow dry it so I could go to bed without wet hair. I braided it and didn't wash or wet it for at least 24 hours. I washed with the recommended shampoo and conditioner. I could see a lot of color rinse out. It colored my towel and even with dry hair some came off on my pillowcase. I didn't wash my hair every day, but every time I did color rinsed out and colored my towel. This happened for just over a week.My grays are now showing just over a week after application. For the time spent this was not worth it. The color lasted for just about a week. It was constantly rinsing out and coloring towels. (It did wash out of the towel and pillowcase.)

First of all, this product is not really henna. It's a semi-permanent cream liquid (i.e. Arctic Fox) but it's formulated with henna extract and less harmful ingredients. (The company does make actual henna hair color powders also though.) It didn't cover my greys completely, more like blended them in and gave them a better tint. It's super easy to use and makes your hair feel healthier. It also doesn't leave behind the wierd after-fade colors (think green hair) that some of the other semi-perms do. My main issue with it is that it's expensive for what you get. The bottles are embarrassingly tiny. Anyone who has longer than jaw length hair will probably need two boxes for proper saturation. I would definitely buy it again though as it's a good product.

I use this product because it is easy to just use a small amount each day or so as a haih dressing and tones the gray down but doesn't make it look like a pant job . I don't use as instructed I don't want to completely cover the gray just take the edge off like I'm going gray but haven't gone all the way. I just dip my fingers into a cotaner that I have put some of product into and work into hair all around . The affect is a natural look because the color is miked like it would be with natural graying. I go from total white to a toned graying look. You do it almost every morning and don't wash it out there is so little on you don't need to. A bottle last for months . It does not turn redish but I use the black shade miked with dark brown to get the shad I want. Anyway I have used it this way for 5 plus years and it is for me the simplest way to tone the old man white hair look down without saying I'm dying my hair. Good luck.

I have helped my elderly mom use this product for like 10 yrs. They have really improved the product recently. It’s less watery which is huge. No messy dripping. They added an elastic to the plastic cap so no more manual tying and tucking. Great improvements! Addendum : the pigment saturation is so much better. It’s really amazing.

I used this for a long time. It colors the hair but I always left in in for 2 hours or more to get the desired effect. I wash my hair everyday or every other day and it would mostly wash out. You can't use regular color for about a year after using henna. I had stopped using real color because I wanted to go GREY. I was able to use this for many months so the demarcation line between dark brown hair and grey hair did not happen to me, which made it so easy to switch to grey. Every month it would become lighter and lighter so eventually the grey came in without looking awful or cutting the hair. It was a wonderful transitional product !!!!!! Not bad if you want color but like I said it washes away with every shampoo.
