Delicate, versatile pearl earrings with a sterling silver ammonite fossil, patinated in rich dark iridescent hues. To me ammonites represent history, math-in-nature, and the inter-connectedness of things. These miniature treasures are cast sterling silver and show beautiful detail in the tiny stairstep nooks and crannies. Sterling silver, oxidized to a dark iridescent finish that complements the color of the mauve pearls; these dangle from handcrafted silver ear hooks. Who loves these? Stylish girls who like a dangly drop earring that can go with anything, but want something a little geeky, a little unusual. Science girls, nature girls, girls who love spirals and the golden ratio. Sassy steampunk ladies who like the Victorian look of cascading pearls, but with a twist. All of the ammonites in my jewelry are created from a wax impression of a real fossil; they are cast using the lost-wax casting process. The chains and all the wirework are also sterling silver. The fossil portion measures 3/8" tall. Total length is just under 2.25". This style of earring is available in several colors and finishes - please see my store for more options! Note: each patina finish is one of a kind, no two alike. It may be lighter or darker than the photo and this is normal for this handmade process.
