I bought this because my husband gets a large, gruesome rash from his medication that nothing seems to substantially help (many allergy pills and creams of OTC and RX ilk have been tried in a multitude of combinations). Plus I figured it would be good for something, even if it didn't give him relief. He is skeptical of everything, but works in a kitchen and is familiar with the efficacy of silver gel for burns, so he actually tried it. Anyway, he initially reported that it was very cooling and soothed the itch/pain immediately, but the effect didn't last too long...though, after a few days of use, it started to make the rash disappear. Of course it pops up in other areas, but this gel seems to work better than anything else he's tried., and i've ordered a couple larger tubes for him. i have been using it on my eyebrow area, which is super-sensitive and has bursts of folliculitis, and it's cleared those bumps up, too. it also seemed to make a lingering cut on my finger vanish overnight. i think it's something everyone should have in their medicine cabinet. nothing could be a cure-all, but it seems gentle and clean, yet does work powerfully well for a myriad of purposes.
