what does the x stand for?

Not only is it not on their website, but if you call customer support ("Dave" from Oklahoma, who sounds suspiciously like Rajesh Koothrappali), they will tell you that they don't make an "X" version. There is some speculation in the forums that it's tagged as an "X" because it comes with an XSplit license, but there's nothing official about that.

How do you zoom in or out?

The camera has a fixed 78 degree field of view, with 1920x1080 pixels resolution (16:9 aspect ratio). Software can effectively narrow the field of view, hence providing a digital "telephoto" effect. Of course, digitally "zooming in" also reduces resolution, but the compromise is reasonable. The Logitech "LogiCapture" app software works quite well. Be sure to start the Capture software before beginning your Zoom meeting. In Zoom, select the camera "LogiCapture", not "HD Pro Webcam C920".

what is the difference between the c920 and the c920x?

Yes. The true difference is between the c920S and the c920. The c920S has the additional rubber privacy lens cover included. Normally the other one is called the c920, but the "X" seems to be marketing for the xs split 3month promo (?) [I use open source software instead]
