Create-A-Scene Magnetic Playset - Bugs

I work in special education and am constantly looking for materials, toys, activities that will allow me to target a variety of skills. I remembered using Colorforms years ago, so went on Amazon to see if anything similar popped up. I then came across these Create-A-Scene boards from Smethport. Let me tell you, the kids LOVE these! I actually had to break up a preschool scuffle over the boards and pieces. There are so many ways to use these to model language, teach vocabulary, role play, etc. I have used these in various centers and the kids never tire of them. As a matter of fact, I have students sneaking away from the center they are in to come see what is happening in my center when we are using these. The price is right, they are multi-functional and the kids love them. What more can you ask!?!? Now for the nit-picky negatives...1) a few pieces have gone MIA as I've moved them from location to location...there is nowhere to store the individual magnets other than on the board itself, 2) in the picture, there appears to be an oval-shaped cut out which I assumed was a carrying handle...none of my boards have these. It would have made them a bit easier to carry. Other than those two things, these are a total hit!

The magnetic folder and magnets are sturdy with bright colors and lots of bugs to choose from. My kids love to play with these on car rides (we have the pet store, pirates and zoo versions too!).

My son really loves this. He is super into bugs and this kept him entertained on/off for hours. He likes that he can rearrange them in the scene and they are good quality magnets and along with the book the set is a nice big size. Worth the price he loves to go in his little teepee tent and have a little quiet time. Will be buying more :)

My granddaughter says she loves it because it is fun to play with, and because it is teaching you what all the bugs look like. The bugs stick to the inside AND to the cover. She is 7. It arrived promptly and in perfect condition. This is her second Smethport. They really spark the imagination,

should be smaller or even more foldable to make it travel friendly so that it will go into backpack(read under seat storage). keeps kids entertatined for sometime. good thing is the pieces wont fall down in airplane where it could be diff to pick.

My 3 year old plays with this every single day after having it for some time now. It is durable and worth the money. He seems to enjoy placing the bugs in new arrangements each time. I would buy this product again.

Love the variety and quality of the depictions of bugs. The magnets stick well to the board and stay on when the board is moved all around. My son loves playing with them. I like the handle in the top of the page for my son to easily carry with one hand. Good quality, good price.

Fun quiet time activity. I wish there was a place to hold the magnets. Just fall out the bottom when you aren't using the book.
