Used this on a shimano ultegra crank arm. I have the regular round removal tool, but local bike shop put this crank back on way too tight that I couldn't get the round one to budge it. Bought this tool and it came right off since you get the help of the leverage from the allen wrench. Wish I'd found it first since with this there is no need for the standard shimano round tool.

There shouldn't be a lot of torque on this part, but I didn't realize I needed a special tool. I got one that would let me use a ratcheting wrench with it if I wanted to, but it's so simple and low-effort that I was fine using the included allen wrench.

Very simple solution to removing Shimano crank caps. I like the machined and anodized aluminum. It's a snug fit but the alternative is a loose fit and easy insertion of the (provided) allen wrench. It's a good tool that you may only use once.

This tool has a vary tight fit. You will need to lube it in order to get it to fit correctly deep into the preload cap!

Initially, had a hard time working this tool into the cap. After a small rotation and improving the insertion angle, the tool worked like a charm. I had a cap that was inserted very tightly and this tool was able loosen the cap with out any damage to the cap or tool. I’d highly recommend this tool as an addition to your tool set.

Popped right into my crank and I was able to remove the crank arm without issue. Must have for Hollowtech II cranks with removable arms.
