Even an ardent fan--and is there any other kind for this beauty?--can learn new details of Audrey Hepburn's life in Barry Paris's bio, generally accepted as the best on the market. She is a converation stopper and starter ("What do you like about Audrey?" stops other chatter at the bar or dinner table. "I think her best film is 'Two for the Road.' Don't you agree?" And that's a starter.Paris gives the details about 'Two for the Road' and other studio moments, including off-stage romances. He also provides insight into Audrey's married life and her desire for simplicity, sincerity, and seclusion. There are set pieces about the creation of 'My Fair Lady' and the shooting of 'Breakfast at Tiffany's,' and Audrey's encounter with the author of 'Gigi.' There are many fine and classic photos of this oh-so-photographic woman.

The book itself is amazing, every page is a precious dive into miss Audrey Hepburn's life. But the package is very poorly made, no plastic around the book, so it came a little torn on the sides, also the white cover is a little dirty, I wonder how hard would be to put it in a plastic bag. By all means buy this book, but find a better place to do it.

The huge amount of detail in this book can make it heavy going. The early chapters on Audrey Hepburn's childhood, war experiences and early training are real page turners and the latter chapters on her work for UNICEF are totally gripping. Somewhat sad to say, but the chapters about her film career require real wading through, the tone of them being so similar - and everyone is always so nice which is not really what a reader wants from a biography. A little more structured analysis of her technique would be useful.However, the book is more than worth reading for the section about her life after movies and her UNICEF trips, when it becomes truly moving and shows what a wonderful and committed person Audrey Hepburn was.
