Really great quality product. Exactly as described. Very heavy weight. But the best part? A perfect, sharp point every single time! Use on my Faber Castell and Prismacolor colored pencils. Bought because a metal barrel on pencil sharpeners helps smooth the lead and wood on your pencil, where a plastic barrel just shreds it. This brass one works very nice. Sharp blades. And love the fact that I can actually buy replacement blades from R+M here on Amazon, if I ever need to.

Pros: *Made of metal *Made in Germany by a family-owned business *Super-sharp results even for difficult-to-sharpen wax-based colored pencils/highlighters Cons: *The lack of rounding on the corners makes it a little uncomfortable to use. Would I recommend this to a friend? Absolutely. I have had trouble getting truly sharp points on my large highlighter pencils (pictured) as well as on my Prismacolor colored pencils. This does the job very well without wasting a bunch of my pencil in the sharpening process. It is a quality pencil sharpener, and I expect to use it for many years to come.

For just my home needs I love this little jewel! I don't have space for my old electric pencil sharpener. Other hand-held sharpeners left the pencils with tips that would easily break when used. I put this in a little plastic bag when I'm not using it so I can find it easily and so it doesn't leave debris on papers. I use the small opening for my regular pencils and i Love the perfect sharpened point!!

So. I have two electric sharpeners and I love them. Unfortunately, I love Prismas and I love sharp points...and my sharpeners literally eat the pencils. It gets expensive... I bought this in an attempt to gain more pencil life and I am very pleased. The points are super, less soft lead breakage and because it has two sizes I can also sharpen my watercolor pencils. Yes, it takes a bit longer than the electric but quite honestly, I'm not in a hurry when I "color." Win-win.

This is the best sharpener for colored pencils I have found and it comes at a reasonable price. It is very sharp, which eliminates some of the problems I have had with lesser sharpeners. The blades are replaceable and easy to change. The only feature it lacks, which is no problem for me is an enclosure, so it doesn't catch shavings, and the blades are very very sharp which may not be the best choice for kids.

Pretty decent quality sharpener. It's solid brass, you can feel it's weight when you hold it in the hand. Metal blades are nice quality and sharp. They sell replacement blades which is handy for a pencil artist like myself, who does a LOT of pencil sharpening. I've tried using the sharpener on vax based Derwent color pencils, oil based Faber Castell, Pastel pencils by Caran D'Ache and I got nice sharp medium length point. Perfect for detail work like animal friskers and fur. Happy with my purchase. This is very good reputable brand. I highly recommend it for an pencil artist.

I really like a small hand-held sharpener since I think they're more controllable than the type with a winding handle and they don't damage the pencil shaft (which the winding handle type with a shaft grip will). I like the heft and durability of the brass sharpener which I think is much better than the aluminium type; I also like that you can buy replacement blades (which I have) from the same manufacturer.
