Great Design, easy to hold but
I think this is a great item for cockatiels, conures, quakers and other small parrots. Unfortunately I have amazons. I was hoping that the perch would be ok, but I think only for an experienced perch using bird. The design is easy to hold, allows for a little bit of "hiding" your hand under the perch which keeps curious beaks back just a tad. The podium design is easy to open, but a little hard to do once the bird is perched. The perch is short, so a larger bird appears uncomfortable moving (so that is minimized but a wobbly bird can find it scary) and when I set it down, one move and my poor amazon lost her balance. You have to place the feet just right in order to keep it upright, and the bird can move too far one way or the other and tip it---again a larger bird. I'm still going to keep using it--I think that once my birds get used to perching on moving perches they will find it ok. I took a pic, so if there is an upload feature you could see my parrot on it.

I think it would be better for a cockatiel or parrokeet
I bought this for my pionus parrot. I think it's too small for a small parrot. I think it would be better for a cockatiel or parrokeet. My bird is heavy and when he walks to the edge of the perch it falls over constantly. Unless you lower it to almost surface level. I really should have gotten the larger size. Otherwise it's a good product. It makes taking my bird who never wants me out of his sight with me to every room of the house.

Change earlier review
I bought this for my eclectus parrot and it tipped over. I think this would be a great item for a small bird like a cockatiel but not sturdy enough for a larger parrot. I rated this product okay because it did not suit my purposes, however, it is advertised for smaller birds and I am sure small bird owners would like this product.

However it is pretty tippy. If our Conure flies to it
Works grate for putting it on the scale to get a weight on the fid. However it is pretty tippy. If our Conure flies to it, it tends to tip her off. Or if she walks out to the end of the perch it will tip.

this things cool
I just got the perch today and it was cool. i was needing a traing perch to train my sun conure chico. when i saw the perch on amazon i knew that i had seen it before on this blog and store called parrot wizard (google it) and thought to my self i have to get this. This guy michael who has two parrots and makes training and taming videos on youtube show every thing from tricks to training. i've emailed him a few times about taming and who i can make my bird friendlier. anyway anybody who wants an afordable perch for training or anything else should check it out and check out his web site and youtube channel.

The size is great and great for my small bird when he sits ...
The size is great and great for my small bird when he sits with me as I work at my desk. But if your bird flies from it, it falls over.

Disappointed
Was hoping this would be a nice portable perch but it tips when she walks to the edge. She is a sun conure, maybe this is only for parakeets? If it had four legs it might be better. The perch size is right for her and seems it would be too big for my parakeets so I am confused about what bird this would work for. So for now I zip tied it down in her play area but I bought it to be a portable option, I don't recommend it.

Nice item but bird won't use
Tough one. Regardless of my efforts, my Senegal parrot refused to trust this enough to perch on it. The item is well made with a good "random shape" wood perch, and the tripod mount seemms secure. Unfortunately my bird willl not trust it, even after training straight out of the Parrot Wizard's book (which I rrecommend).
