WIND RIVER is a chilling thriller that follows a rookie FBI agent (Elizabeth Olsen) who teams up with a game tracker with deep community ties and a haunted past (Jeremy Renner) to investigate the mysterious killing of a local girl on a remote Native American reservation. Review: One cannot afford to blink! - This is be a landmark movie story for me. The tragedy and I suspect the reality of the crime could bring a just man to tears; and all too often through some drunk psycho and his mates delivering the worst in human nature on minority women. I have seen it and experienced the actions of groups like this throughout my life and it never changes. Gritty yes, reality yes, and if I could fix this I would without question or hesitation. And I remember when my youngest went abroad with a girlfriend during her teens. The fears arose, fatherly protection came into play and concerns were raised. One cannot afford to blink! Superb acting, location amazing, storyline a reality. I tip my hat. That was both moving and brilliant. Will remain with me for a long time. Review: Dramatic - Very powerful and true story, about people abuse local tribes.

Very good film and story, only let down by a poor sound mix on the blu ray
I had seen this film on a stream, really enjoyed it and had no issues with the sound. I always read reviews on Amazon and was concerned about the negative reviews of the sound. Now having seen the movie on blu ray, I fully understand them. If you are using the sound on most TVs you will find the voices mumbling and it will be frustrating. I have a brand new Panasonic 4K blu ray player. A KEF 5.1 surround system with sub woofer, with Q Acoustics floor standing speakers at the front and an old 130 watt Yamaha amplifier. Normally I would watch the average film with the sound at -30. But had to watch this at -20. A third higher than normal. This made the gunfire and surround effects quite loud, which isn't ideal but generally I could hear what they were saying. It is a shame and clearly a very poor job has been done in the sound studio by the company who released this in the UK/Europe. The film for me is good, with a decent plot and story, set in a cold, harsh landscape on an Indian Reservation. The writer/director Taylor Sheridan has written the screenplays for two excellent films in Sicario and Hell Or High Water and clearly he is a talented guy. Jeremy Renner has one of his better roles, not quite up there with The Town, where he had an oscar nomination, but the film deals with many themes, such as death, loss, lust and ultimately justice. The action scenes are impressively gritty and when the answers come it shows the talent in the writing. In summary, if you have a good sound system and like a slightly slow burning thriller, this could be for you, but if you are watching this on a TV you could feel short changed on the dialogue and a very low budget film like this is unlikely to be brought out again for an anniversary edition sadly.

Great film
This is a taut thriller with beautiful scenery as a backdrop, great acting and a fine script. It was so good that I watched it a second time the following day. So good...

Really enjoyable film
The film is was shot on a First Nation reservation with the discovery of a dead body by a professional game and wildlife protection officer, this leads to the local police and a lone FBI agent tasked to resolve a murder case. Th FBI agent asks the game protection officer for help following some astute observations made from the crime scenes which in view of the time of year (winter) and the conditions and the fact he lost this own daughter following tragic circumstances he agrees to do. The film provides an atmosphere of depression and resignation from the the people in this reservation that comes from a historical exploitation and indifference shown to the culture and beliefs. The plot seems straightforward but the interplay of the cast and the history of the area with the main character leads to a tense and suspenseful ending which disturbs with its violence, I do not now how I missed this film when it was originally released but I am glad I bought a copy and fully recommend it to anyone looking for realistic and well acted film.

Sublime tracking film
I'm very interested in tracking, which according to the 'The Complete Guide to Tracking' by Bob Carss, is "the following and interpretation of sign." Wind River is one of only a handful of films that I can recall, that actually utilises this somewhat ancient and lost art. Jeremy Renner plays the part of a U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service tracker who operates on the Wind River Indian Reservation in Wyoming, utilising his hunting/sniping skills to track and execute wolves/lions which pose a threat to local livestock. It's during one of his hunts that he discovers the dead body of a local woman, which brings an FBI Agent played by Elizabeth Olsen, into town. Bereavement is a key theme of the film as Cory (played by Renner) lost his own daughter in similar circumstances several years previously, and there's some very moving scenes between him and the father of Natalie, who is the latest woman discovered murdered. Cory then utilises his local knowledge and tracking skills to guide the FBI Agent through the investigation, which leads to a very dramatic conclusion. This is a very bleak film set to the backdrop of a desolate landscape but it has some great dialogue and given it was written by the writer of 'Sicario,' you can't go far wrong. It will also written to raise awareness of the very real issue of Indigenous women being raped and murdered, which many people in the UK may not be aware of.

Expertly managed
Cory Lambert is a hunter/tracker who, while on the job, finds the body of a young woman in the snow. After raising the alert, FBI Agent Jane Banner arrives on the scene to investigate. With scant resources and people reluctant to talk, the pair work together to solve the crime. This film is beautifully shot and acted, telling a tragic story of the death of a young woman and the links to the actual events that took place in Cory Lambert's life. The film is bleak in message and in location, set in the wilds of frozen Wyoming with residents who don't have much to do or live for. The pacing is good and the conclusion brings the loose threads together well. This film plays out well on Blu-ray, with lots of sweeping landscapes to view and good colours and detail. The dts-HD MA audio provides great ambient effects but I did find the voices quite difficult to understand at times, and I also needed to dial up the volume more than I would normally do. 4.5 stars.

Brilliant
I first saw this movie, on a streaming channel, and was one of those movies that has always been on my list to place in my library. What's more, despite Audio 5.1 doesn't let your. Sound system down. I would recommend this movie.

Film in lingua originale
